MINNEAPOLIS--()--U-Haul® began serving Twin Cities customers at three new self-storage facilities today and unveiled plans for another center by 2026, bolstering its self-storage footprint in Minnesota while addressing the needs of underserved residents.

The three facilities offer nearly 2,600 combined indoor self-storage units with climate-control options and high-tech security features. The properties, which were previously Extra Space® Storage locations, were acquired on Thursday.

U-Haul Storage at American Blvd. in Minneapolis (101 American Blvd. W.) and U-Haul Storage of St. Paul (631 Transfer Road) each have 890 self-storage units for rent. U-Haul Moving & Storage of New Hope in Minneapolis (3216 Winnetka Ave. N.) houses 819 storage rooms.

Up to 26 new Team Members will be hired to staff and maintain the stores, and U-Haul will look to hire locally to promote job growth in the Twin Cities. Honored as a Best for Vets employer by The Military Times, U-Haul recruits veterans and gives them preference in the hiring process. Find careers at uhauljobs.com.

We look forward to adding more services at each location to better serve these communities.”

Coming Soon

Scheduled for completion by fall 2026, U-Haul Moving & Storage of Ramsey will be U-Haul Company of Northern Minnesota’s first ground-up build. The 8.73-acre property at Highway 10 and Riverdale Drive was acquired on Oct. 2. The lot was previously home to a local organic farm.

The retail, moving and self-storage center will encompass seven buildings with a total of 1,150 indoor climate-controlled and drive-up storage units. A U-Box® warehouse will provide storage for up to 800 portable moving containers.

Additional U-Haul services will include truck and trailer sharing, professional hitch installation and towing accessories, boxes and moving supplies, propane, and sustainability initiatives like the Take A Box, Leave A Box program.

U-Haul intends to hire as many as 20 Team Members to staff the Ramsey store when it is built.
