Simon Business School, University of Rochester Announces New Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Business

New Program will Prepare Students for Career Success with AI-driven Business Insights and Hands-On Experience

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--()--Simon Business School, a pioneer in STEM management education and home to top-ranked MBA and MS programs, is expanding its leadership in AI by launching its new Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Business program. As AI transforms industries across the globe, this cutting-edge program will equip students with the technical and strategic skills needed to harness AI for business value.

“AI expertise is essential in today’s competitive business landscape, where organizations must adapt to the impact of AI in all business functions, from customer experience to operations, from talent management to financial sustainability,” said Sevin Yeltekin, dean of Simon Business School. “Our program not only provides students with the technical skills needed to leverage AI effectively, but also includes a hands-on project, an experience that enables students to make an immediate impact after graduating.”

The curriculum includes industry-relevant courses such as Programming for Analytics, Introduction to AI & Business, and AI & Deep Learning. Students will engage in practical applications that address real-world challenges, culminating in a unique AI-focused capstone project. This required project allows students to collaborate with corporate sponsors, applying their knowledge to solve actual business problems.

“According to Deloitte’s The State of Generative AI in the Enterprise report, 79% of business leaders expect generative AI to transform their organizations within three years,” said Mitch Lovett, senior associate dean for education and innovation. “Graduates of this program will be positioned at the forefront of this transformation, equipped to meet the growing demand for expertise in applying AI to business.”

This intensive 14-month program includes personalized career coaching through Simon’s Jay S. and Jeanne Benet Career Management Center, preparing students to transition into AI roles upon graduation seamlessly.

“As part of this cohort experience, students will have the opportunity to shape the future of AI in business at Simon,” Dean Yeltekin added. “You’ll connect with like-minded peers and industry leaders, positioning yourself as a pioneer in this emerging field.”

The STEM-designated program signals quantitative rigor to employers and allows international students to work in the US for up to 36 months if hired in a STEM-eligible job. The comprehensive curriculum integrates AI concepts early and often, providing students with a strong focus on generative AI that enhances their technical understanding and application in business contexts.

The MS in AI in Business expands Simon’s full suite of STEM-designated master’s programs, including a top-ranked MBA (full-time and part-time), Online MS in Business Analytics & Applied AI, and full-time Master’s of Science programs in Accountancy, Finance, Business Analytics and Marketing.
