College of American Pathologists Names New Senior Vice President for Membership, Learning/Education, and Meetings

NORTHFIELD, Ill.--()--Amber Williams has joined the College of American Pathologists (CAP) as Senior Vice President for Membership, Learning/Education, and Meetings. Williams will lead the strategic integration of membership services, professional learning, and CAP meetings, focusing on providing members with the tools and knowledge they need to excel.

Williams brings extensive experience from her leadership roles in nonprofit associations. Notably, she significantly increased organizational revenue to expand member services, developed and launched public health leadership programs, including the award-winning Diverse Executives Leading in Public Health initiative, and established mental well-being initiatives aimed at improving retention and engagement through organizational change during the pandemic.

"I’m excited to join the CAP and contribute to an organization that plays such a vital role in health care," said Williams. "Pathologists are essential to the medical field, and CAP’s mission aligns perfectly with my passion for and belief in the power of professional associations in empowering professionals and advancing fields of practice.”

Building on her experience leading transformative programs, Williams brings the same dedication to her role at the CAP.

“I believe in leveraging our strengths while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement,” said Williams. “The CAP is already recognized as the gold standard, and I’m dedicated to collaborating with our team to elevate our services and provide even greater value to our members. With our strong and dedicated staff, we are well-positioned to lead the way forward.”

Williams has a personal connection to the work of pathologists, driven by her family’s history with breast cancer.

"Seeing how much breast cancer detection and treatment has progressed since my mother’s diagnosis, thanks in part to the CAP’s contributions, makes this role particularly meaningful to me. It’s inspiring to be part of an organization that continues to push the science forward."

Williams holds a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University, Global Campus, and a bachelor’s in Education from the University of Georgia.
