MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, is proud to announce its inclusion on Fast Company’s 2024 Best Workplaces for Innovators list. This marks the fifth consecutive year the organization has been recognized for its culture of innovation since first appearing on the list in 2020 at the #1 spot.
Fast Company’s rigorous evaluation of nearly a thousand applications spanned industries and borders to identify organizations that ignite creativity and innovation among their teams. ALSAC came in at #12 among the top 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators and won the General Excellence category, which recognizes organizations that have achieved remarkable results by establishing a pervasive culture of innovation.
“We are honored to be recognized as a global leader in fostering innovation, and this award is truly a testament to the more than 1,600 ALSAC team members who are so diligent in their pursuit of innovation for purpose,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC. “Our relentless drive for new solutions empowers St. Jude to impact more of the 400,000 children battling cancer worldwide each year.”
Innovative Solutions for Global Impact
ALSAC’s commitment to innovation is driven in large part by its mission to support St. Jude in curing childhood cancer and other deadly diseases worldwide. When St. Jude launched a global initiative in 2018 to accelerate treatments and cures for children everywhere, ALSAC launched a corresponding effort with foundations supporting that lifesaving work.
Today, ALSAC provides training and counsel to more than 130 nonprofits in 64 countries, especially in low- and middle-income regions where cure rates remain unacceptably low.
“In keeping with our spirit of innovation and our foundational principles of inclusion, we work alongside partners to understand and identify their needs, develop original solutions, and share ongoing knowledge and tools that empower them to meet those needs,” Shadyac said.
Empowering Employees to Innovate
ALSAC’s culture encourages employees at every level to express themselves and propose and test new strategies. Initiatives like enterprise-wide innovation challenges, hackathons and intern challenges generate novel solutions to business problems and keep innovation at the forefront of the organization’s culture.
“Children’s lives literally depend on ALSAC’s ability to encourage open discussion and creative problem solving,” Shadyac said. “We make sure everyone knows innovation is a priority that should not only be supported but recognized and celebrated.”
