BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Carelon Behavioral Health has received accreditation from the International Council for Helplines (ICH) for its call/text/chat crisis and helpline services. The ICH accreditation process ensures helpline providers are delivering high-quality services, with best practices and ethical standards.
ICH has been offering helpline membership and accreditation services for over 50 years, and is dedicated to establishing best practice standards of service for crisis and emotional support helplines.
As part of the accreditation process, ICH evaluated nine components of Carelon’s Crisis Center of Excellence: governance and leadership; fiscal and administrative; facilities, equipment and safety; training; program management; supervision, support and evaluation of specialists; suicide prevention and intervention; management of specific contact types; and online emotional support components (such as text/chat modalities).
“As our crisis footprint continues to grow nationwide, we hold ourselves to increasingly high standards for the people we serve,” said Briana Duffy, President, Carelon Behavioral Health. “This ICH distinction is a testament to the work we’re doing to strengthen state and local crisis systems, and to upholding strong experiences and outcomes for those who receive crisis support.”
Carelon Behavioral Health currently offers state crisis helplines in Kansas, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and manages crisis care in six other states: Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey and Washington.
Carelon Behavioral Health also earned accreditation from the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) in 2021.
