Making an Impact: Olson Grimsley Celebrates One-Year Anniversary, Year of Groundbreaking Trial Wins

Impact litigation law firm has won more than $80 million in judgments and argued the Colorado ballot access case against Donald Trump before the U.S. Supreme Court

DENVER--()--National plaintiff-side and public interest boutique law firm Olson Grimsley LLC is marking its one-year anniversary, celebrating a year of groundbreaking litigation and monumental trial wins already creating significant change across the country.

The “impact litigation” firm, which was established in September 2023 by veteran trial lawyers Eric Olson, Sean Grimsley, Kenzo Kawanabe, Abigail Hinchcliff, and Jason Murray, was founded with the purpose of taking on the biggest issues facing our nation.

“We came together with the goal of making an impact, advancing the public interest through important cases, and standing up for the underdog,” said Mr. Grimsley. “We have far exceeded the goals we set for our first year.”

In just one year, the firm:

  • Won a landmark decision by the Colorado Supreme Court, which declared former President Donald Trump disqualified from public office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Olson Grimsley was lead counsel for Republican and unaffiliated voters in state district court, the Colorado Supreme Court, and U.S. Supreme Court. The firm partnered with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, Tierney Lawrence Stiles LLC, and KBN Law, LLC.
  • Won a groundbreaking $60 million trial victory against Mead Johnson Nutrition, the manufacturer of Enfamil Premature Infant Formula. An Illinois jury found that the makers of cow’s-milk based formula were responsible for causing necrotizing enterocolitis in premature infants. The trial was the first in the nation for this significant mass tort, and Olson Grimsley was lead trial counsel with Keller Postman LLC and The Cates Law Firm, LLC.
  • Won a jury award worth more than $20 million in favor of manufacturer Thermal Pipe Shields Inc. in its antitrust case against Berkshire Hathaway’s Johns Manville.

Olson Grimsley has achieved more than $80 million in favorable judgments for its clients, and more than a third of its work was pro bono.

Abby Hinchcliff said, “It has been an exciting year, but we’re just getting started. We have doubled in size and have built an incredible team of professionals to lead these important cases.”

Olson Grimsley is currently in trial suing the makers of Zantac on behalf of an Illinois veteran who developed prostate cancer after using the now-discontinued drug for years. The case is Ronald Kimbrow v. Boehringer Ingelheim, Case No. 2023-L-005405 in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois.

The firm is partnering with Sparacino PLLC to represent victims of human trafficking in Qatar and victims of Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is also partnering with Korein Tillery to represent student-athletes – deprived of their share of billions of dollars from television revenue – in their antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA and Power Five conferences. The cases are: F.C. et al. v. Jacobs Solutions Inc., et al., Case No. 1:23-cv-02660 (U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado); Schmitz et al. v. Ericsson, Inc. et al., Case No. 1:22-cv-02317 (U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia); Fontenot, et al. v. NCAA, et al., Case No. 1:23-cv-03076 (U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado); and Cornelio v. NCAA, Case No. 1:24-cv-02178-MDB (U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado).

Olson Grimsley attorneys have earned several prestigious national and regional honors. They include Forbes Inaugural Top 200 Lawyers, Chambers & Partners, Lawdragon Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers, Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation, and Denver Business Journal’s Power Book Class of 2024.
