RAZ Mobility Launches Update to the RAZ Memory Cell Phone - the Most Senior-friendly Phone

CABIN JOHN, Md.--()--RAZ Mobility (www.razmobility.com) released an update to the award-winning RAZ Memory Cell Phone. The update includes:

  • An innovative feature designed to reduce social isolation.
  • The ability to control how users can call emergency services.

The RAZ Memory Cell Phone is designed to help seniors stay connected with family and friends after they have difficulty using standard phones. The Phone is used by seniors experiencing cognitive decline, vision loss, hand tremors, and those who require a simple experience. It provides an easy-to-use experience for seniors and allows caregivers to manage the phone from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada through the RAZ Care mobile app, which caregivers download onto their personal device.

According to the U.S. Surgeon General’s 2023 Advisory on loneliness and isolation, “[t]he mortality impact of being socially disconnected is similar to that caused by smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day, and even greater than that associated with obesity and physical inactivity.”

The RAZ Memory Cell Phone’s new “loneliness alerts” feature is the first cell phone feature specifically designed to reduce social isolation. The caregiver sets a target for the number of calls in which the user of the RAZ Memory Cell Phone should participate. For example, the target might be two calls per day. The caregiver will receive a text message if the target is not satisfied, encouraging the caregiver to make sure that the senior participates in more calls, thereby reducing isolation.

The update also includes a feature that allows caregivers to control how the senior can reach emergency services. Three options – and combinations thereof -- are available: (i) an “emergency” icon at the top of the home screen, (ii) emergency services as a contact, and (iii) dialing 911 with the keypad. This flexibility is needed to ensure easy access to emergency services, while simultaneously reducing the frequency of unintentional calls.
