NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Academy Securities, a registered broker-dealer, certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), today announced the addition of Admiral Sir George Zambellas to its Advisory Board and Geopolitical Intelligence Group.
Admiral Sir George Zambellas retired from the Royal Navy in 2016 after 36 years of service. His last 3 years in service were as the First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, the professional head of the Royal Navy. Prior to this, he held several prominent leadership roles including the Commander, Allied Maritime Command Northwood, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief Fleet, the Chief of Staff to the Navy Command Headquarters, and the Chief Naval Warfare Officer. In 2006, he led the Fleet's principal transformation program, and in 2005 he commanded the Royal Navy’s Amphibious Task Group through its implementation of two new classes of amphibious vessels. Earlier in his career, he commanded several notable ships, including the mine hunter HMS Cattistock, the frigate HMS Argyll, and the frigate HMS Chatham during Operation Palliser in Sierra Leone.
“We are honored to welcome Admiral Zambellas to our Advisory Board,” said Academy’s CEO Chance Mims. “His outstanding leadership of the Royal Navy and extraordinary expertise in foreign affairs will prove to be an immensely valuable addition to our team.”
Admiral Zambellas commented on joining the firm: “In our world of interconnected and exploitative global opportunities, I am delighted to join Academy Securities and offer our clients my geopolitical experience and insights in order to leverage their competitive options.”
Prior to commissioning as an officer in the Royal Navy in 1980, Admiral Zambellas graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. Admiral Zambellas' exemplary service has earned him numerous accolades, including being appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB).
“Admiral Zambellas brings a wealth of leadership and geopolitical expertise to our Advisory Board,” stated Academy’s President Phil McConkey. “We are privileged to have his strategic vision and extensive experience to enhance our initiatives and support our clients.”
