Works Reports Steady Growth Since Launch in 2021

Revenue growth and customer success demonstrate health systems’ commitment to bolstering permanent staff by creating workforce flexibility

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Works from Trusted Health, a workforce management platform that helps health systems drive clinical cost savings and bolsters nurse retention, today announced details showcasing its industry growth and impact.

Works launched out of Trusted Health in 2021, stemming from its vision to create a product that allowed health systems to centralize their clinical staffing operations across their multi-facility systems and decrease their need for expensive contingent labor. Works first collaborated with Mercy, which sought to create a more sustainable workforce and reduce reliance on costly external staffing sources. The shared vision that drove Mercy’s success with Works is now being adopted more broadly. Works has steadily grown its customer base of premier U.S. health systems, including Deaconess Health System, helped its partners create a more flexible and efficient clinical workforce, and driven 2.5x revenue growth YoY.

“Works has been a game changer for our staffing strategy,” said Katie Burnett, Director of HR Administration at Deaconess. “We were seeking a smart solution to control incentive costs, optimize our approach to contingent labor, improve shift pickup, and empower our nurses with flexibility and ownership over their schedules. Works has equipped us with powerful capabilities, such as AI-powered dynamic pricing, that have enabled us to achieve a level of operational efficiency that isn’t possible without the platform.”

Works has also advanced the impact of its AI capabilities. Most recently, it was granted early access to Google DeepMind’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, an opportunity that will help bolster Works’ use of AI. Last year, Works launched a dynamic pricing algorithm, which uses AI to dynamically adjust and set hourly shift rates based on market demand and nurse availability. Through the AI-powered dynamic pricing feature, nurses gain visibility into available shifts through the Works mobile app and are empowered to pick the shift that works best for their schedule. The platform intelligently calculates incentives based on areas of highest need and likelihood of shift pickup. By automating manual contract management, credentialing, and recruiting tasks, Deaconess saw a 14% reduction in premium spend – enabling its internal core staff to pick up more shifts and be compensated appropriately.

“When we launched Works, nurses around the country were at a breaking point, and it was vividly apparent that the traditional model of clinical workforce management was broken,” said Lennie Sliwinski, Co-founder and CEO of Works. “Works completely reimagines the staffing experience by empowering hospitals to create a dynamic on-demand workforce and providing nurses with more flexibility and control over their schedules. The overwhelmingly positive results that Mercy has achieved stemmed from our collaboration and shared vision with them, which has led to the broader adoption of our model by other top health systems and speaks to the success of Works’ modern approach to staffing. I’m proud that our platform has given nurses a level of control they’ve long deserved.”

Additionally, Works continued to broaden its thought leadership presence, particularly through its podcast, The Handoff, hosted by Joni Watson, Editor of the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing and Consulting Associate for Duke University School of Nursing. It recently wrapped up Season 9, which features interviews with the CNO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the ACNO of Duke University’s Population Health Management Office, and other influential executives. The episodes delve into deep discussions focused on nurse leadership as a behavior, rather than a role, and provide insight into key topics spanning AI integration, bridging innovation and risk management, and more.
