MUMBAI, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, has launched EcoZen, Asia’s first low-carbon ‘green’ zinc brand. Certified through a life cycle assessment (LCA) by a global sustainability firm, EcoZen has a carbon footprint of less than one tonne per tonne of zinc, about 75% lower than the global average. Primarily used for galvanizing steel, zinc is crucial in sectors like infrastructure, automotive, renewable energy, electronics, and energy storage.
EcoZen showcases Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to decarbonizing operations and providing customers with sustainable choices. The product’s certification follows a mass-balance approach using the cradle-to-gate method. EcoZen will avoid about 400 kg of carbon emissions per tonne of steel galvanized.
