RxDiet Secures $3 Million Seed Round, to drive down healthcare costs using AI-driven food as medicine

NEW YORK--()--RxDiet, a New York-based company focused on Food as Medicine, announced today a $3 million seed funding round led by Giant Ventures, with significant participation from Better Ventures, Form Life, and notable angel investors including Immad Akhund (Mercury Bank).

RxDiet uses AI to create medically tailored food plans, with fresh ingredients and behavioral support, and deliver them directly to patients with chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension. Their platform personalizes meal plans based on individual medical needs and taste preferences, offering a cost-effective alternative to existing programs that reduces wastage.

RxDiet has already partnered with 2 out of 3 largest health insurers in the United States, whose plans fully cover the program’s cost.

The latest results in Aetna programs have boasted a remarkable 97 NPS, promising clinical outcomes and 76% app usage rate among seniors with an average age over 78, a demographic that is historically difficult to engage in healthcare programs. They also partner with national grocery chains, enabling the provision of locally sourced ingredients for patients to prepare their own medically tailored meal plans.

Co-founded by Roman Kalista and Jan Skvaril, RxDiet aims to address the leading cause of chronic conditions: poor diet. "We want food to be at the forefront of medicine," says Kalista, “Using food to treat chronic conditions is often cost-prohibitive, and RxDiet has lowered the bar significantly for healthcare payers to adopt a program that drives unprecedented engagement, clinical outcomes, and member satisfaction. This funding round will enable us to reach more patients in the United States.”

Investor Jia Lin from Giant Ventures commented, “RxDiet is a game changer for healthy eating. As the disease burden from chronic conditions grows, RxDiet’s holistic solution serves a critical function not only in managing and reversing these conditions but also preventing them. We are excited about RxDiet as their highly scalable AI platform breaks down the barriers of healthy food making it equally affordable, personalized, and engaging for someone in urban New York as it is for someone in rural Georgia.”

RxDiet will utilize the new funding to expand their team, strengthen their grocery network, and offer their services to a wider range of healthcare payers. They are also launching a low-cost digital tool this year, which insurers can afford to offer to all of their members. Leaving no one behind when it comes to battling disease with personalized nutrition is paramount to RxDiet’s mission.
