WARWICK, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As students head to colleges and trade schools this fall, seven students will do so with a total of $50,000 in scholarships from Corvias Foundation in support of their dreams. This summer, Corvias Foundation is continuing its annual tradition of awarding scholarships to children of Corvias employees from across the nation. Among the 19 students who applied for the scholarship, the Foundation selected seven students.
An Evolving Approach to Inclusively Supporting Students
Of note, this approach expands from previous years’ awards to a smaller cohort, while continuing to offer a larger-than-average award size, based on benchmark data. Qualified applicants were blindly evaluated by a panel that awarded weighted amounts related to academic performance and financial need. As a result, Corvias Foundation is offering a high-quality scholarship while simultaneously increasing the inclusivity of the community of scholars and offering broader benefits to Corvias employees. This fits into a larger strategy to support students’ futures; in fact, the Corvias Foundation has supported more than 450 military-connected families with more than $15 million in scholarship awards since 2006.
An Impressive Array of Scholarship Recipients
The 2024 scholarship recipients reflect a very talented, very capable group of deserving students, with varied interests and needs. Corvias Foundation is excited to support their dreams and see them succeed in their academic careers.
“The seven students distinguished themselves academically through advanced placement in honors courses and engaged in dual enrollment opportunities where they earn college credits,” said Julie Allen, executive director of Corvias Foundation. She noted the seniors demonstrated commitment to serving their community through activities such as peer tutoring, peer wellness support projects, aiding the unhoused community and those experiencing food insecurity, as well as joining organizations like the Humane Society.
Allen added, “All seven recipients overcame their own obstacles and have a wide range of interests into which they invest their time, efforts, and passion. These students have clear goals in mind that they hope to achieve with the help of higher education, and we are so glad to invest in them as a gateway to unlocking their true capabilities and boundless potential.”
The 2024 Corvias Children of Employee Scholarship Recipients
“We are exceptionally proud of all the students we selected for this scholarship,” Allen said. “With an ever-changing landscape in technology, communications, education, and science, these students will face challenges and opportunities in their academic and professional careers that are unfamiliar to the generations that came before them. We hope they will continue to rise to the occasion and excel in their chosen fields of study as they work to achieve their dreams.”
