Armanino Reflects on Successful 16th “Great Give” Day of Service and Second Consecutive Treedom Canopy Challenge

Armanino team members gave record-breaking 20,512 volunteer hours in one day, and supported the planting of 2,794 trees

SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--Armanino LLP (Armanino), a top 20 national accounting and consulting firm, celebrates the worldwide impact of the thousands of Armanino volunteers who contributed to the success of both its 16th annual Great Give day of service on May 23 and Armanino’s second annual Treedom Canopy Challenge. This year, Armanino team members taking part in the Great Give dedicated a record-breaking 20,512 volunteer hours in support of 158 unique organizations across the globe. Armanino’s Treedom Challenge, which ran from Earth Day leading up to the Great Give, supported the planting of 2,794 trees, doubling the “Armanino Forest” and continuing the momentum from last year. The Great Give and Treedom Campaign are just two examples of Armanino’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and its sustainability efforts.

"Our team proved by example that together we can spur meaningful, positive change for the communities we work and live in," said Matt Armanino, CEO of Armanino. "When we first started the Great Give, we never dreamed that our volunteer efforts would grow to such a scale, but now in our 16th year, it’s an event our team looks forward to each year. The Armanino volunteers should be proud of the positive, tangible impact of their efforts.”

Great Give: A Tradition of Service

Since its inception in 2009, Armanino's Great Give has united the entire organization for an annual firm-wide day of hands-on community service. Over the course of 16 years, Armanino team members have contributed over 92,320 hours in support of various nonprofit organizations and community projects — the equivalent of more than 44 years of full-time work. This year, 2,155 Armanino team members participated in activities ranging from environmental cleanups and food packing to educational programs and social support service.

Joining Armanino’s U.S. Great Give initiative was Armanino’s new Ahmedabad, India-based office, where 13 of the firm’s newest staff engaged in local community service efforts with Sense India, a national organization that helps individuals suffering from deafness blindness and multiple disabilities, and their families overcome everyday challenges.

"The Great Give is a cornerstone of our culture and a favorite day among Armanino team members," said Mary Tressel, Chief Communications and Purpose Officer at Armanino. “Our people want to meaningfully contribute to worthy organizations that change lives and improve our communities, and we create lasting connections with these charities over the years through efforts like the Great Give and other volunteer opportunities.”

Treedom Campaign: Growing a Greener Future

Armanino also completed its second annual Treedom Canopy Challenge, a firm-wide fundraising effort to plant as many trees as possible between Earth Day and the end of May. For a second year, Armanino contributors partnered with Treedom, a Certified B Corporation that engages in tree-planting projects worldwide. Thanks to the generosity of Armanino employees, friends, and the Armanino Foundation's matching contributions, the initiative surpassed its goal, supporting the planting of 2,794 trees. Their efforts doubled the size of Armanino’s Forest to more than 5,700 trees and growing.

"The Treedom Canopy Challenge is a clear example of our commitment to sustainability," said Kris Russell, senior manager at Armanino and leader of the firm's Sustainability Services practice. "Our collective efforts will help remove nearly 700 tons of carbon dioxide this year, reducing our overall carbon footprint and enhancing forestry conditions in critical regions. It's a testament to what we can achieve when we come together for a common cause."

As a Certified B Corporation, Armanino is dedicated to making a measurable impact on its sustainability and environmental goals. The success of the Great Give and the Treedom Canopy Challenge in 2024 underscores the firm's ongoing efforts to integrate social and environmental responsibility into its core operations.
