HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Suffolk, one of the largest and most innovative construction enterprises in the country, has announced the opening of its new office in Herndon, Virginia. Northern Virginia has increasingly become a hub for the data center sector, and significant construction has been planned for the region over the next decade. The experts on Suffolk’s Mission Critical Center of Excellence team – with their collective delivery of more than 50 data center campuses totaling over three gigawatts in 30 states – are well equipped to meet the demand.
Operations in Virginia will be led by Charles McCarthy, National Chief Operating Officer of Mission Critical at Suffolk. McCarthy has more than 20 years of experience managing the construction of highly complex mission critical facilities throughout the country for private clients and federal agencies. His experience, along with Suffolk’s robust national resources and innovative tools and technologies, will help ensure the delivery of progressive and impressive first-rate projects across the region. Suffolk also works with clients on sustainable and power generation solutions and will continue to pursue innovative partnerships that help to redefine the way the industry builds.
“Suffolk is recognized for its wealth of experience managing complicated, sophisticated data center and government projects nationwide, and Virginia is an important hub for that development activity,” said Mr. McCarthy. “Suffolk leverages its own proprietary data and the most sophisticated and innovative technologies to show clients a new way to build that provides a more seamless and predictable experience for safe, efficient, on-time and on-budget projects.”
Suffolk has expanded several community partnerships in the region. This includes developing pre-apprenticeship programs with a client to ready individuals for mission critical construction by creating onsite lab curriculum and partnering with local educational institutes to empower the next generation of construction leaders. Suffolk’s additional community relations efforts include a partnership with Willing Warriors, a nonprofit that provides retreat stays and programs that positively impact wounded, injured and ill service members and disabled Veterans, at no cost to the participants.
Suffolk is an innovative industry disruptor well established in its core competency of construction management while providing vertical service lines such as real estate development funding, self-perform, technology R&D and investment, and design-assist services. The national company is ranked #8 on Engineering News-Record’s list of “Top CM-at-Risk Contractors” and #9 on the publication’s list of “Top Green Contractors.”
