CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading advisory CPA firm Baker Tilly US, LLP (Baker Tilly) announces the appointment of Principal and General Counsel Theresa Meiners as Chief Risk Officer, effective June 1.

As Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel, Meiners will lead Baker Tilly’s Risk Management and Legal functions. As the most senior member of the firm's legal team, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision. Additionally, she has served in influential roles, including leading the firm’s first formalized Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Societal Impact and then Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives.

Meiners will succeed Jere Shawver, who will now focus entirely on his new role as CEO of Baker Tilly US, LLP (BTUS) while continuing to lead the firm’s assurance service line as part of the firm’s adoption of an alternative practice structure.
Meiners joined Baker Tilly in 2016, bringing with her a wealth of experience from her 12 years at Foley & Lardner LLP, where she was a partner in the litigation department.
