FORT LEE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cross River Bank (“Cross River”), a technology infrastructure provider that offers embedded financial solutions, is proud to announce its gift to Benjamin Rose, a renowned non-profit dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults and caregivers. Through an initial $20,000 grant contribution from Foundation@ Cross River, Cross River’s charitable giving arm, Benjamin Rose will provide technological training to elderly Americans through Benjamin Rose’s “Connecting Our Seniors to Technology” (“COST”) program. A reflection of Cross River's steadfast commitment to serving the underserved, expanding inclusion, and fostering financial security for all, this gift was celebrated with a check presentation and tour of Benjamin Rose yesterday on Cleveland’s Senior Day 2024.
"Cross River is dedicated to serving the needs of all communities, including those often overlooked or marginalized, and regardless of geographic location," said Miriam L. Wallach, Head of Social Responsibility at Cross River. "Our gift to Benjamin Rose exemplifies our commitment to impactful philanthropy—giving that truly expands inclusion and empowers individuals to achieve a more secure financial future. By providing technological training to elderly Americans, we are leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in today's digital age."
In an increasingly digital world, technological literacy is essential for individuals of all ages. However, elderly Americans often face barriers to accessing and utilizing digital tools effectively. Recognizing this challenge, Cross River is contributing to Benjamin Rose’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and empower older adults with the skills needed to confidently navigate today's technology landscape. Cross River’s grant contribution will enable Benjamin Rose to offer comprehensive training programs designed specifically for elderly Americans.
The training cohorts cover a wide range of topics, including basic computer skills, internet navigation, online banking, cybersecurity awareness and financial education. By equipping older adults with these essential skills, Cross River and Benjamin Rose aim to enhance their quality of life, promote independence, and facilitate greater participation in the digital economy.
“The COST program is designed to provide the most isolated segment of our population - older adults- with the knowledge, skills, and access to resources to help them better age in place and access basic needs, like telehealth and banking,” said Benjamin Rose President and CEO Orion Bell. “Donors, like Cross River, are essential to this program’s success.”
The announcement of this gift comes on the heels of a significant honor bestowed upon Benjamin Rose. Immediately prior to yesterday’s check presentation with Cross River, the City of Cleveland recognized Benjamin Rose as an ‘Age-Friendly Champion.’ This accolade not only underscores Benjamin Rose's dedication to promoting age-friendly policies and practices that enhance the well-being of older adults in the community, but also serves as a testament to the organization’s credibility and track record of impactful work. It is precisely this commitment to excellence and community betterment that led Cross River to choose Benjamin Rose as a recipient in its mission to “do more good.”
