Visit Vallejo Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week May 19-25, 2024

VALLEJO, Calif.--()--Visit Vallejo will host their 31st Annual Tourism Luncheon & Board of Directors Installation on Wednesday, May 22 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. at the Courtyard by Marriott Vallejo Napa Valley.

Celebrating National Tourism Week, this luncheon is held at the beginning of travel season to remind Vallejo and other area communities about the economic benefits of the travel and tourism industry and to install the non-profit organization’s new officers and directors.

Visit Vallejo’s special guest speaker at this year’s event is Seamus Murphy. Seamus is the Executive Director of San Francisco Bay Ferry, a public ferry operator offering daily service connecting the cities of Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, South San Francisco, and Vallejo using the nation’s cleanest high-speed, high-capacity fleet. Mr. Murphy sits on the Interferry Board of Directors, the California Transit Association Executive Committee, and the California Transit Transformation Task Force.

“We are thrilled and honored to have Seamus as our keynote speaker for this year’s luncheon,” said Mike Browne, President & CEO of Visit Vallejo.” Vallejo is excited about working more closely with the SF Bay Ferry on attracting visitors from San Francisco for special events like the Pista Sa Nayon, the Dock of Bay Concert on Mare Island and the Vallejo Waterfront Weekend in the fall.

At their May 14 meeting, the Vallejo City Council issued a proclamation designating May as Tourism month in Vallejo. The rest of the nation will be marking the occasion as well during National Tourism Week, May 19-25.

Browne added, “More travel means more jobs (Tourism is Vallejo’s #2 industry) and needed revenues for a healthier Vallejo.”

Presenting sponsors for this year’s Tourism Luncheon are California Forever, Mare Island Co., Recology Vallejo, JD Miller CPA, Krystle Properties Management, Napa River Realty, Regency Inn, Skyview Memorial Lawn, Touro University, and V-Town Farms. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with a reception followed by lunch and the guest speaker.
