Industry Leader in Hospice Care Receives National Recognition for Providing Excellent Quality Care

LOS ANGELES--()--Silverado Hospice, a leading provider of hospice and palliative care, recently received a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This recognition for its unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care places Silverado Orange County Hospice among the top 1% of Orange County’s 300 hospice facilities and in the top 97% of all hospice facilities nationwide.

“I am beyond proud of our team at Silverado Orange County Hospice for achieving this national recognition from CMS,” said Loren Shook, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Silverado. “This is a true testament to the exceptional performance of our staff that benefits not only our patients and their families, but our colleagues as well.”

Receiving the highest score possible from CMS on their Hospice Care Index, Silverado surpassed the national average by more than a point and California’s average by almost two. Also receiving high marks in the CMS Family Caregiver Experience evaluation, Silverado outpaced the national average scores in nearly every category including treating patients with respect, emotional and spiritual support, help for pain and symptoms and willingness to recommend.

“Our staff and caregivers exemplify an unmatched level of compassion and dedication, setting the standard in the hospice field,” said Kim Butrum, MS, RN, GNP, Senior Vice President - Clinical Services, Silverado. “Our team’s constant pursuit of excellence has earned them this high rating, and they should take great pride in what they’ve accomplished.”

Guided by the principle that every individual deserves dignity and comfort in the final part of their life’s journey, Silverado strives to create unique and tailored care plans that meet the specific needs of each patient and family during this challenging time. The organization’s vision of hospice is based in addressing all aspects of comfort – physical, mental and spiritual – for both the patient and their loved ones.

“Hospice is a profoundly challenging time for patients and their families,” said Angela Mounton, Senior Vice President of Hospice and Supportive Care Operations, Silverado. “It is amazing to witness the love our team invests in our patients to ensure they receive the highest quality of care possible.”
