NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Approaching its fifth anniversary, leading New York trial boutique Mukasey Frenchman LLP has been renamed Mukasey Young LLP. The change reflects the departure of co-founder Robert S. Frenchman and a new leadership role for Torrey K. Young as a name partner.
Mr. Frenchman leaves after a long and successful run working alongside co-founder Marc L. Mukasey at three separate law firms. The pair partnered on many high-profile representations, including insider trading cases, mortgage-backed securities matters, crypto cases, SEC and CFTC investigations and enforcement actions, and a “spoofing” trial that resulted in a full acquittal. Their collaboration achieved many favorable results for clients, whether individuals or corporate.
Mr. Mukasey said, “Bob always brought informed insight, deep substantive knowledge, a tireless work ethic and unwavering devotion to our clients and the firm. We are supportive of Bob’s decision and we are profoundly grateful for his contributions, and we hope to work with him whenever we can in the future.”
Mr. Frenchman stated, “It was a dream of mine to build a boutique firm where I could practice at the highest level for great clients. I did that and now I’m gearing up for my next adventure, which will be announced soon. On a personal and professional level, my bond with Marc will always remain strong.”
Ms. Young defends clients in government enforcement actions, including criminal and civil cases. She has deep experience with health care fraud, False Claims Act cases, and allegations of research misconduct and grant fraud. She recently successfully obtained a dismissal of a False Claims Act case against a medical group client in which the whistleblower claimed the defendants accepted $1 million in illegal kickbacks and billed government healthcare programs more than $1 billion in “kickback-tainted claims.”
While known for her work representing clients in health care and life sciences, she has also been an integral part of several recent Mukasey criminal trial teams in cases ranging from securities fraud, to tax violations, and bribery charges. She was named to the 2023 Lawdragon 500X list of Next Generation stars and Emory University’s 40 Under 40 notable alumni.
“I am honored and humbled to have my name on a firm that has been recognized for smart and creative lawyers who are focused on doing the best possible job for clients in challenging, high-stakes litigation and enforcement matters,” Ms. Young said. “I want to thank Marc Mukasey for the opportunity to help guide the firm while I continue growing my practice.
Mukasey Young LLP continues to take on corporate and individual clients facing critical investigations and complex litigations with its Chambers-recognized team led by Mr. Mukasey, a renowned trial lawyer who is consistently sought out for the biggest and most complex cases.
The firm will continue to represent public and private companies, executives and prominent individuals in finance, business, health care, and life sciences. Mukasey Young will be ready to fight for clients who need to protect their freedom, their business or their reputation. www.mukaseylaw.com.
