Pioneer Landscape Centers Launches New Service to Save Contractors Time and Money

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To support landscape contractors dealing with labor shortages and higher costs, Pioneer Landscape Centers, a retailer in the western U.S., has added materials placement via slinger trucks to the company’s Contractor Services division.

Slinger trucks are specialized trucks equipped with high-speed conveyor belts that project material from the bed of the truck to a chosen location on the job site. Those mechanisms enable the trucks to place materials up to four inches in diameter as far as 120 feet with exceptional precision.

Along with aggregates, the trucks can be used to accurately place soil, mulch, sand, and gravel in hard-to-reach areas. The trucks sling up to four tons per minute, and they eliminate the need for laborers who would need to use skid steers and wheelbarrows to get a similar job done.

Pioneer already uses blower trucks, another materials placement solution that can place soil, mulch, or ¾” aggregate as far as 300 feet away via a large hose. Each of Pioneer’s blower trucks can place up to 60 tons of material per hour. Slinger trucks complement this service by giving contractors another option for materials placement on hard-to-access job sites.

For construction contractors, slinger trucks can be used to place bedding aggregates for roads, pipes, underground fuel tanks and more. The slinger trucks can also be used to reload Pioneer’s blower trucks that are already on job sites around the state.

Labor shortages are one reason Pioneer created its Contractor Services division last year and is expanding these services with slinger trucks. According to a survey conducted by Landscape Management magazine, 73% of landscape professionals said worker shortages had impacted their businesses.

“For contractors needing high volumes of materials placed, these slinger trucks will be a game-changer,” said Ben Powell, VP of sales and operations. “These trucks will allow landscape companies to take on bigger jobs with confidence, and they won’t need to hire more people to get the jobs done. Contractors have already told us the blower trucks opened many doors to opportunity for them. Slinger trucks will do the same.”
