Matching sponsors CBS Studios, Delta Air Lines, El Cholo Family of Restaurants, and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union pledge a combined total of $100,000

LOS ANGELES--()--For the eighth consecutive year, iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ KOST 103.5 will join Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, to celebrate the global day of giving that takes place on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Giving Tuesday also kicks off CHLA’s annual Season of Giving campaign, which runs through the end of the year and appeals to the community and corporate partners to donate funds to support the leading pediatric care the hospital provides.

Starting with the Ellen K Morning Show, KOST 103.5 will dedicate 13 hours of programming to CHLA on Giving Tuesday, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Throughout the broadcast, Ellen and her co-host Ryan Manno, and KOST 103.5 personalities Kari Steele and Sandy Stec, will highlight patient stories of hope and healing, and the world-class care delivered every day at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The broadcast will also feature celebrity guests including Academy Award-winning actress, author and children’s health advocate Jamie Lee Curtis, comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, and actors Chris Pine and Matt LeBlanc. KOST listeners are invited to support the hospital by visiting kost1035.com/chla, or by dialing #250 from a mobile phone and using keyword “CHLA” to donate.

In addition, KTLA will join the effort from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. with morning news anchor Megan Henderson broadcasting live from the iHeart studios and CHLA’s Sunset Campus featuring interviews with patient families and celebrity supporters. KTLA viewers can donate via CHLA.org/KTLA or by calling 1-800-770-CHLA (2452).

“Since 2016, more than $2 million has been raised on Giving Tuesday thanks largely to the tremendous partnership between CHLA and KOST, as well as the generosity of our corporate sponsors,” says Children’s Hospital Los Angeles President and CEO Paul S. Viviano. “This annual event is a highlight for the community, CHLA’s patients and their families and for CHLA team members, who unite to help us fulfill our mission of creating hope and building healthier futures for children.”

“For me, the official start of the holidays begins with our Giving Tuesday broadcast for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles,” says Ellen K, whose son, Calvin, underwent emergency surgery at CHLA eight years ago after suffering a football injury. “I am a grateful patient parent and a lifelong supporter of CHLA and its mission because we experienced firsthand the hospital’s incredible expert medical care.”

CBS Studios, Delta Air Lines, El Cholo Family of Restaurants and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union are Giving Tuesday’s premier matching sponsors and will double every donation, dollar for dollar, for a combined total of $100,000 in matched gifts.

Additionally, donors will have the opportunity to make their gift go even further. For every contribution of $35 or more made before midnight Tuesday, Nov. 28, CHLA will give a My Paw In Yours puppy to a hospitalized patient thanks to a partnership with Jamie Lee Curtis’ company My Hand In Yours. Founded by Ms. Curtis in 2020, My Hand In Yours sells custom comfort items, and 100 percent of the company’s proceeds support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The community can also support CHLA through these local retail experiences:

  • In honor of El Cholo Family of Restaurants’ 100-year anniversary in 2023, patrons donating $100 can become an El Cholo VIP and enjoy a free order of Carmen’s Nachos through the end of 2023, and new specials to be announced in 2024. Patrons donating $5,000 will get to have a personalized plaque mounted in a booth at their favorite El Cholo location. Dine-in customers may also add a donation to their check at all six Southern California El Cholo locations.
  • Porto’s Bakery and Café will donate a portion of the proceeds from all cheese roll sales across six bakeries (Glendale, Burbank, Downey, Buena Park, West Covina and Northridge) from Monday, Nov. 27 to Friday, Dec. 1.
  • On Saturday, Dec. 2, Veronica Beard Palisades Village location will donate 20 percent of sales all day to CHLA.
  • From now through Dec. 31, participating Ace Hardware locations will be asking customers to round up their purchase to help kids treated at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
