Nepsis® Acquires Full-Service Tax and Accounting Firm Sevenich, Butler, Gerlach & Brazil, Ltd.

Strategic acquisition of certified public accountancy firm will bolster the Nepsis® Family Office Framework

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Nepsis, Inc., (“Nepsis®”) a national financial advisor and investment management firm, is pleased to announce the acquisition of full-service tax, accounting and consulting firm Sevenich, Butler, Gerlach & Brazil, Ltd., (“SBGB”). Effective immediately, SBGB will be incorporated into the Nepsis® brand and will augment the Nepsis® Family Office Framework, which aims to present clients with a holistic and comprehensive view of their finances by integrating a variety of disciplines and advisors.

The acquisition will also enable Nepsis® to expand its wealth management offerings for existing clients as well as the high-net-worth families and business owners served by SBGB. Since its founding in the early 1950s, SBGB has proudly upheld a tradition of exceptional client service, providing innovative tax, accounting and consulting services to family-owned business and individual clients. All clients of the expanded Nepsis® offering will now benefit from the full suite of wealth management solutions within the firm's Family Office Framework.

“With Sevenich, Butler, Gerlach & Brazil, Ltd., we found a partner that will significantly help our firm level up our ability to provide personalized, comprehensive financial guidance to our clients,” said Matt Pearson, who was recently appointed president of Nepsis®. “As the advisory industry evolves to embrace a service model replete with wealth, tax and accounting expertise, advisors must be equipped to provide a holistic view of clients’ financial lives.”

Recognizing the escalating complexity of clients’ financial lives, the Nepsis® team, led by Founder & CEO Mark Pearson, sought to bolster its service offering with the addition of an established CPA firm. This search led to the strategic acquisition of SBGB, a firm whose commitment to personalized and proactive advice was perfectly aligned with Nepsis' client-centric approach.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Nepsis® as we enter the next phase of our business trajectory,” added Thomas G. Schramer, CPA, partner at SBGB. “When we initially spoke with their team, we immediately saw similarities in our approaches to client service: putting the client's best interest first and striving to secure their financial futures. By joining forces with Nepsis®, we’ll be able to provide our clients with a more robust service offering.”

In tandem with the acquisition, Nepsis® has signaled it will invest heavily in technology and human capital to help its clients with tax planning and ongoing tax management. This is highlighted by the appointment of a leadership team that will oversee various aspects of the Nepsis® Family Office Framework:

  • Bryan Eberle has been appointed president of Nepsis Tax Solutions, where he will be responsible for overall leadership and the continued growth of the program. Eberle's dedication to advancing CPA firms has led him to work with hundreds nationwide, helping them to enhance their service offerings with the proactive advice and added value that clients seek. His guidance has been instrumental in transforming numerous firms, shaping them into forward-thinking CPA practices of the future.
  • Derrick J. Doerr, J.D., CPA/PFS, CFP, most recently senior manager, tax at Wipfli, as well as former adjunct professor of the financial planning certificate program at Minnesota State University, has been named as the vice president of tax and advanced markets. Doerr will be responsible for the training and development of Nepsis’ tax staff, as well as oversight of its advanced tax and estate planning services.
  • Richard Moore, CPA, J.D., has joined Nepsis® as vice president of accounting and advisory services. Moore will lead the accounting and advisory team to provide solutions for business clients. Having previously practiced law for almost 20 years, Moore most recently founded and operated his own consultancy that specialized in tax, accounting, and outsourced chief financial officer services. His focus on helping firms to improve profitability through timely insightful financial information will be a crucial component of his new role.
  • Jordan Riley rounds out this group of leadership hires and has been appointed vice president of tax operations. Riley’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the production of services, ensuring that operations are efficient and effective. Before assuming this current position, Riley held a leadership role at a multi-family office, where she was instrumental in devising and implementing technology enhancements throughout the firm.

“I’m energized by the opportunity to be part of such a client-focused and forward-looking team here at Nepsis®,” said Eberle. “The acquisition of SBGB expands our capabilities, allowing us to enhance our service offerings to clients and to make more substantial investments in technology, marketing and tools. Additionally, it enables us to unlock efficiency throughout the tax solutions division and the entire Family Office Framework.”

This acquisition enables Nepsis® to further position itself as a future-ready wealth management services provider, encompassing experts and advisors from various facets of the industry to coach clients on all aspects of their financial lives. For more information on Nepsis®, visit nepsisinc.com.
