LAS VEGAS--()--Paper, a leading edtech platform, announces the launch of its GenAI-powered Review Center, a writing review service that combines the intelligence of professional human tutors and GenAI to provide students with on-demand feedback across a broad range of writing assignments. Paper’s Review Center is available to over three million students in over 300 school districts across 40 U.S. states and Canada. To date, Paper tutors have reviewed over 130 thousand essays that included AI suggestions. Paper’s Review Center uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 model and is customized based on Paper Method, the company's holistic, theory-based pedagogical framework designed to guide students rather than intervene with answers. The Paper Method aims to foster critical thinking skills and strengthen subject knowledge.

“Students today struggle to get comprehensive feedback on writing assignments when teachers have limited bandwidth in the classroom to provide individualized support,” says Paper founder & CEO, Phil Cutler. “Our GenAI-fueled Review Center provides confidence and 24/7 support for students across grade levels, while also saving time for teachers and tutors.”

Paper’s Review Center leverages the best of GenAI and human input to improve the quality of feedback for students' writing assignments while delivering it faster. Now, with the incorporation of GenAI, the Review Center provides students with individualized feedback up to 34% faster than a human tutor working alone. Of the students who used Paper’s Review Center, 97% rated the feedback positively, while 80% of students felt more confident with their work after the review.

To use Paper’s AI-driven Review Center, students can upload any writing project or essay to the platform, along with their teacher’s rubric and areas they would like to focus on. In seconds, Paper’s GenAI tool reviews the essay for grammar and sentence structure, format, layout, content, and flow. Before the student sees any feedback, professional human tutors read the essay and accept, edit, or reject AI’s comments, while leaving additional suggestions. If a student has further questions, they can get live, on-demand support from a Paper tutor to go deeper into the feedback and get additional help.

Paper’s GenAI-powered Review Center has been impactful in streamlining and expediting teacher and tutor time. Tutor Laura Levesque told Paper, “What’s been so extraordinary has been this ability to use AI to reduce stress and strain on me while still providing actionable, valuable, and personalized feedback to students. What I love most is that I have the opportunity to focus more effort on the content of student work to make sure that their thinking and meaning truly shine in their writing, especially when AI can focus on catching other important errors in grammar and format.”

“With Review Center, we are combining GenAI superpowers with professional tutor experiences to provide students and their teachers with tailored feedback faster than ever before," said Amir Kabbara, Chief Product Officer at Paper. "This helps students grow their writing skills, improve their creative writing, lab reports or college admission essays providing equitable support for students and educators."
