NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Last week, renowned chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud received a total of four Michelin stars for his Dinex Group restaurants, including two stars at Restaurant DANIEL, one star at Le Pavillon, and one star at Jōji. With a total of four stars, which are considered the restaurant world’s highest honor, Chef Boulud leads the recipients of Michelin stars in New York City.
“I am truly honored to receive a total of four Michelin stars in New York City this year,” said Chef Daniel Boulud. “This is very much a team effort, and I am so proud of our exceptional teams at each of these restaurants. From thirty years at DANIEL, to just over two years at Le Pavillon, and only a year at Jōji, it is remarkable to have such a range of restaurants receive this acclaim.” Boulud continued, “I have to give a special mention to my partners Chefs George Ruan, Wayne Cheng, and Xiao Lin at Jōji, as receiving their first Michelin star in such a short time is a true accomplishment.”
Restaurant DANIEL, the company’s flagship location, maintained its two-star rating. Celebrating its 30-year anniversary this year, this iconic New York destination was the first restaurant opened by Chef Boulud. DANIEL today retains its status as one of the finest restaurants in the city, known for its contemporary French cuisine executed at the highest level. The restaurant team is headed by Executive Chef Eddy Leroux, Executive Pastry Chef Shaun Velez, Head Sommelier Erin Healy, and General Manager Karim Guedouar.
Le Pavillon, located in Manhattan’s state-of-the-art skyscraper One Vanderbilt, maintained its one-star rating after initially receiving a Michelin star in its first year after opening, 2022. With its innovative menu featuring vegetable-forward and seafood-centric cuisine, Le Pavillon has quickly scaled the heights of New York City fine dining. The restaurant team is headed by Executive Chefs Will Nacev and Michael Balboni, Executive Pastry Chefs Yohko Ogata and Maria Arroyo, Head Sommelier Blake Bernal, and General Manager Jon Fitzgerald.
Jōji, which opened only a year ago, has received one Michelin star in its first year of eligibility. Also located in One Vanderbilt, Jōji is a hidden jewel adjacent to Grand Central, in which guests can enjoy an exclusive multi-course omakase experience at its intimate 10-seat counter. Jōji is led by Executive Chef-Partner George Ruan and Chef-Partners Wayne S. Cheng and Xiao Lin, with Head Sommelier Junxi Chen and General Manager Jane Sakaeda. As one of the newest Michelin star recipients this year, Jōji has earned its status as one of the most acclaimed sushi restaurants in New York.
Both Le Pavillon and Jōji restaurants were opened in partnership with SL Green, New York’s largest owner of office real estate and the developer of One Vanderbilt. "We built One Vanderbilt to be the kind of iconic building where you'd expect to find a Michelin-starred restaurant, and we're thrilled to have not one but two," said Marc Holliday, Chairman and CEO of SL Green. "Creating Le Pavillon and Joji was a labor of love, partnering with amazingly talented and visionary chefs on concepts and spaces that achieve a symmetry of excellence with One Vanderbilt, and that are uniquely part of the building's identity and success."
The 2023 Michelin Guide Stars for New York, Chicago and Washington, DC were announced in a ceremony in Manhattan on November 7, 2023.
