Eric Gilpin Joins G2 as Chief Revenue Officer

Former Upwork Sales leader brings 20+ years of scaling tech businesses for high-growth to world’s largest software marketplace

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--G2, the world’s largest and most trusted software marketplace, today announced it has appointed Eric Gilpin as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In this role, Gilpin will oversee all aspects of G2's revenue generation, including global sales and customer success, enablement, partnerships, and revenue operations. An experienced leader with 20+ years of experience building and scaling large technology businesses, Gilpin comes to G2 from Upwork, where he oversaw a global team of 400+ and helped lead the company to a successful IPO in 2018 (NASDAQ:UPWK) where the business scaled to north of $600 million in annual revenue in 2022 while serving 50% of the Fortune 500.

“The rise of AI, paired with today’s economy, means selling software is getting harder,” said Godard Abel, co-founder and CEO of G2. “Software companies must move faster to keep up with buyer expectations, and G2 is uniquely positioned to help them do this – powering software buying and selling in the age of AI. As we look to support our customers in this new landscape, Eric has the ideal experience to help guide G2 toward the next peak in our growth journey.”

As a member of the Senior Leadership team at G2, he will lean into his experience leading large, global go-to-market teams to drive durable growth and market expansion while ensuring customer value.

“I have spent most of my career building two-sided marketplaces and have seen firsthand the flywheel effects they create for their customers," said Eric Gilpin, CRO at G2. “I am honored to join the G2 team and be part of a company that is revolutionizing the way businesses make software purchasing decisions. G2 has built a category leading platform that empowers both buyers and sellers to make more informed choices. I look forward to working alongside the talented team at G2 to drive continued revenue growth and help businesses worldwide succeed."
