Him For Her Launches Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action To Solve Gender Diversity on For-Profit Boards

NEW YORK--()--Today, social impact venture Him For Her presented a Commitment to Action at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2023 Meeting to solve gender diversity on corporate boards. CGI convenes global and emerging leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Speaking from the mainstage at the event, Him For Her CEO and Founder Jocelyn Mangan committed to ensuring that every public and high-growth private company in the country has a critical mass of women directors in the next ten years.

The boardroom is the most influential room in business; boards oversee decisions that affect not only shareholders but also customers, employees and communities. Diverse boards have been shown to deliver better outcomes for all stakeholders and yet less than a third of the directors on public company boards are women. Among high-growth private companies, only 16 percent of directors are women and just 4 percent are women of color.

“Board diversity is completely solvable,” said Mangan. “The solution is simple, though the work isn’t easy.”

When it comes to adding a director, boards tap people they already know. Women, and especially women of color, are underrepresented within those networks. Him For Her, diversifies boards by providing visibility to overlooked talent in full partnership with the business and investment community. The organization has built a network of 7000 women – more than a third of whom are women of color – and connects them with CEOs, directors and investors looking to build their boards.

To date, Him For Her has partnered with over 100 leading private equity and venture capital firms to extend networks and make board introductions to their portfolio companies. In March, Him For Her announced that as a direct result of the organization's introductions, women had been appointed to 100 board seats. Forty percent of those appointments went to women of color.

“By diversifying the networks of those in the boardroom, and with the support of the Clinton Global Initiative, we will solve board diversity once and for all,” said Mangan.
