Ed Freedman’s Stable Road Foundation to Provide Clean Water for Maui Fire Victims with Help of GivePower, ROAM Maui

MAUI, Hawaii--()--Philanthropist Ed Freedman and his Stable Road Foundation have announced a partnership with global nonprofit GivePower to provide a clean, sustainable water source for the people of Maui affected by last month’s wildfires.

Stable Road Foundation and GivePower have teamed up to deliver an Aquifer 360 Expedition watermaker to the West Lahaina region of Maui, which was devastated by the wildfires. Donated by GivePower and operated by Stable Road Foundation, the Aquifer 360 Expedition watermaker can purify even highly contaminated water and make it safe for drinking. The machine can produce 360 gallons of pure water each day.

The Aquifer 360 Expedition will be placed in the Honokohau Valley, which has been without clean water since 2018. It will be set up alongside a river and serve the local community of around 100 people.

ROAM Maui, a private shuttle service connecting Maui with major cities on the West Coast, generously offered to transport the Aquifer 360 Expedition from the U.S. mainland for free.

“The power of Maui comes from its community—and every community needs clean water,” says Ed Freedman, founder of Stable Road Foundation. “We’re committed to building a bridge to a bright, sustainable future for Maui, and we’re proud to have friends like Givepower and ROAM Maui who share our commitment to the island.”

Stable Road Foundation was founded in 2017 by Freedman to serve underprivileged children and their communities, both on Maui and around the world. The Foundation is currently organizing many relief projects in response to the Maui fires, with more to come soon.

GivePower, which specializes in providing clean water and energy to remote communities, has been a partner of Stable Road Foundation for over 5 years. The organizations have collaborated on previous projects in locations such as Kenya, Standing Rock, the Philippines, Nepal, and Colombia.

“We are excited to join Ed and the Stable Road Foundation in supporting Maui during this incredibly challenging time,” said Michele Magee, President of GivePower. “By addressing the need for clean water quickly, we hope to better secure the health and safety of those affected.”

Stable Road Foundation has also launched a fundraiser to raise money for more relief projects on Maui. The Foundation is matching all gifts up to $500,000, enabling supporters to double their impact. To support the fundraiser, please visit https://donate.stableroadfoundation.org/.
