Chef Daniel Boulud and BARNES International Realty Announce New Café Boulud at Maison BARNES

Located at 100 E 63rd Street, the legendary restaurant brings fine dining to the prestigious Beekman residences at 575 Park Avenue in Manhattan’s Upper East Side

NEW YORK--()--Today, renowned chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud announces a new partnership with the hospitality division of BARNES International Realty to bring his globally recognized Café Boulud restaurant concept to the Beekman building in late 2023.

The main restaurant Café Boulud will open in late 2023 followed by Maison BARNES, which will open in 2024. Maison BARNES will be an elegant ensemble of a bar, a dining salon and private dining rooms, as well as a speakeasy and a wine cellar table combining distinctive culinary experiences with artistic and cultural programs centered on craftsmanship and Art de Vivre.

BARNES is delighted to partner with Chef Daniel Boulud for Maison BARNES at its prestigious Park Avenue address. Chef Daniel Boulud embodies the codes of French cuisine at its finest and shares our quest for excellence in creating memorable life moments and experiences. With this project we kick off our hospitality and dining venture that we will develop to welcome our patrons in the first of many exceptional locations for an immersive experience in French art, cuisine, culture and lifestyle,” said Thibault de Saint Vincent, President of BARNES.

The Café Boulud brand is especially meaningful for Chef Boulud, as it is named after the original Café Boulud started on his family’s farm outside of Lyon, France by his great-grandparents. Chef Boulud’s rendition of this heritage is focused on four inspirations: La Tradition – the classic dishes of French cooking; La Saison – the seasonal specialties of the market; Le Potager – the vegetable garden; and Le Voyage – the exotic flavors of the world’s great cuisines.

The Upper East Side is a very special neighborhood to me, as this year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of restaurant DANIEL, which has become synonymous with the neighborhood. It is a tremendous opportunity to open Café Boulud and Maison BARNES just a few blocks away,” said Chef Daniel Boulud. “This Café Boulud will be unique in its approach, but will continue to be guided by my four longstanding inspirations as well as the deep roots of the brand.”

Having opened his first Café Boulud in New York City over two decades ago, Chef Boulud has selectively expanded the brand to exclusive locations in Palm Beach, the Bahamas, Toronto and Beverly Hills, each developing a unique variation on his four key inspirations.

Café Boulud’s Executive Chef will be Romain Paumier, an alumni of the previous Café Boulud and the current Executive Sous Chef at Restaurant Daniel. The Executive Pastry Chef will be Katalina Diaz, an alumni of Restaurant Daniel and Boulud Sud.

The space will be designed by Jeffrey Beers International and feature Art Deco and vintage accents in the interior design motifs and ornamentation. The quality and artistry of the materials from etched glass to sculpted wrought iron and bronze, gilded copper, varnished woods and polished stone reflects the craftsmanship so valued by Maison BARNES.

As our Café Boulud family continues to expand in the USA and abroad, we’re pleased to re-open Cafe Boulud in New York and promote our French savoir-faire with an American touch,” said Sebastien Silvestri, CEO of Dinex. No two Café Boulud experiences are alike, as they draw inspiration from local flavors, techniques and traditions, creating bespoke moments for every guest, every time they dine with us.”

In addition to the reopening of Café Boulud, Maison BARNES will debut additional dining experiences led by Director Georgette Farkas, a Dinex Group alum who worked with the company for nearly 20 years. Expected to open in early 2024, the Maison BARNES restaurant will offer salon-style dining, an intimate experience intended to evoke the feeling of being welcomed into a private home. The menu will be distinct from Café Boulud’s while maintaining traditional French cooking techniques and seasonality.
