FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regent Surgical Health (“Regent” or the “Company”), the nation’s leading independent ASC platform specializing in health system joint ventures, announced today that Travis Messina has been named the Company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and has also been appointed to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Messina most recently served as CEO and founder of Contessa Health, a pioneer in the delivery of high-acuity, home-based care through joint ventures with health systems, which he grew from a startup and eventually sold to home health leader Amedisys in 2021. Mr. Messina brings additional experience within the acute care industry from a previous role as Vice President of Development at Vanguard Health Systems. He was recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s “Top 25 Innovators in Healthcare” in 2022.
Mr. Messina will assume the CEO role effective August 14, 2023, taking over for Interim CEO and Executive Chairman Joe Clark, who will remain in his role on Regent’s Board of Directors.
“On behalf of the Board and investors, I am thrilled to welcome Travis to Regent, and I am confident that we have found the right person to lead our organization into this exciting and important new chapter,” said Mr. Clark. “Travis brings a unique blend of visionary thinking, entrepreneurial prowess, and deep experience forming successful partnerships with some of the nation’s leading health systems. As we seek to grow Regent into new markets and deepen our existing relationships, Travis’ leadership and skillset could not be a better fit.”
Regent has grown to become the nation’s largest independent health system joint venture-focused operator of ASCs. The Company develops, owns, and manages multispecialty ASC facilities in markets across the United States, successfully growing its footprint through a focused strategy to develop multisite health system partnerships. In 2021, Regent completed a strategic investment from TowerBrook Capital Partners, an international investment management firm, and Ascension Capital.
Since 2001, Regent has been on the forefront of outpatient care delivery, developing some of the first ASC facilities designed specifically to treat complex cases and procedures such as total joint replacement and spinal disorders. Today, the Company operates and manages ASC locations in more than 15 states, in partnership with many leading health systems.
“It’s an honor to join the team at Regent, and I couldn’t be more excited for the tremendous opportunity ahead of us,” said Mr. Messina. “Today's leading health systems are pursuing significant ambulatory strategies to provide a better patient and physician experience at a lower cost. Regent has demonstrated a 20-year track record of success and the agility needed to be these systems’ partner of choice, uniquely capable of connecting high-end outpatient services seamlessly to their complex acute care offerings. I’m excited to build on our tremendous foundation and accelerate Regent’s growth as an innovative and differentiated industry leader.”
