RESTON, Va.--()--The Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association’s Washington, DC chapter (AFCEA DC) recently appointed Hitachi Vantara Federal’s Strategic Executive of Federal Systems Integrators, Caren Von Hoene and Director of Federal Sales, Ryan Hinkle, to its esteemed board of directors.

The announcement comes after a rigorous selection process based on each candidate’s qualifications and skillset, as well as their dedication to AFCEA’s mission, which involves a full cycle three-year commitment. Von Hoene was appointed at her previous company and will continue her commitment at Hitachi Vantara Federal. Hinkle was appointed as a member for this year’s cycle.

Von Hoene assumes the role of board of directors leveraging her extensive knowledge in the Federal government, strong industry relationships, and philanthropic spirit to support AFCEA’s initiatives.

“Coming from a military background with both of my parents having served, being selected for this honor serves as an opportunity for me to give back to the armed forces and volunteer my time to a meaningful cause,” Von Hoene said. “I’m looking forward to combining my institutional knowledge of the Federal government and industry relationships to support everyday warfighters and propel AFCEA’s mission through community-driven service such as its scholarship awards program and charitable giving initiatives.

Hinkle, who has worked to bridge industry and government advancements through valuable relationship building since 2011, brings his wealth of experience in Federal technology to his new position as a board member. Hinkle’s commitment to supporting the missions of Federal agencies through empowering warfighters’ access to critical data and information highlights his exceptional suitability for this position.

“I can’t express how thrilled and grateful I am for this appointment,” said Ryan. “It’s both a tremendous honor and huge opportunity to work alongside this incredible organization in collaboration with industry and government leaders. I look forward to forging new paths of innovation and generating insights that lead to a more secure and resilient digital landscape that support warfighters in protecting our country.”

“It is incredibly gratifying to witness Caren and Ryan’s recent appointments as board of directors for AFCEA DC,” says Mark Serway, President and CEO at Hitachi Vantara Federal. “Their well-deserved recognition reflects their remarkable qualifications and dedication to making a difference in the industry we serve with our government’s mission in mind. I am confident their leadership will contribute significantly to AFCEA’s mission, bringing innovation and fostering stronger ties between the government and industry to support the critical needs of our armed forces and global security.”
