HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Air Liquide in the U.S. received The President’s Volunteer Service Award in recognition of its commitment to volunteering, a key tenet of its Citizen at Work program. The company was awarded the Silver 2022 President’s Volunteer Service Award based on 327 volunteer hours that the organization donated through employee service to the Houston Food Bank in 2022.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award was established to recognize the important role of volunteers and their contributions to the United States’ strength and national identity. It honors those whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action. The award is administered by Points of Light and AmeriCorps, and is widely considered among the nation’s most revered volunteer award programs.
Air Liquide’s commitment to the community is underscored by our ADVANCE strategic plan, which directs company and employee efforts to “act for all.” This strategic objective is supported by the company’s Citizen at Work initiative and volunteering benefits. Through its global Citizen at Work program, Air Liquide encourages and supports employees’ involvement in their local communities through volunteering. In addition, 24 hours of paid volunteer service time per year allows employees in the U.S. the flexibility to contribute to society.
Michael J. Graff, Chairman & CEO, American Air Liquide Holdings, Inc., said: “At Air Liquide, we take great pride in being a leader in our communities, and that leadership is largely made up of individual acts by employees. I'm very proud that, in recognition of our employees and their dedication to volunteerism, Air Liquide was recently awarded The President's Volunteer Service Award. Thank you to the Houston Food Bank for the honor of this nomination and their continual example of strong community advocacy. Thank you and congratulations to all of the employees who made this honor a reality. This award proves what we already know - that only by acting for all, can we invent a more sustainable future.”
Brian Greene, President & CEO of the Houston Food Bank, said: “‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.’ Those are the words of Helen Keller, and they could easily be a motto of the Houston Food Bank. We provide access to 150 million nutritious meals in 18 counties through our community partners of food pantries, soup kitchens, social service providers and schools, but it could not be done without the assistance of volunteers. They are the true lifeblood of our organization. Air Liquide and its employees have donated hundreds of hours to Houston Food Bank to help their neighbors in need, not to mention generous financial support as well. Because of their continued, dedicated support for Houston Food Bank, they recently received a nationally recognized silver President’s Volunteer Service Award from the Points of Light Foundation. Thank you to Air Liquide and its employees for helping provide food for better lives.”
