Ed Freedman and Stable Road Foundation Make Donation to Hawai’i Land Trust

MAUI, Hawaii--()--Ed Freedman and the Stable Road Foundation are proud to announce their $5,000 donation to the Hawai’i Land Trust (HILT), a nationally accredited nonprofit that safeguards the island’s environment and natural resources.

“At Stable Road Foundation, we’re honored to support local Hawaiian organizations like the Hawai’i Land Trust,” says Freedman, the Foundation’s founder and chairman. “The Land Trust is doing important work to protect the beautiful mountains, waters, and forests of Hawai’i, and we encourage the whole community to help them preserve this land for the next generations.”

Founded in 2011, HILT was originally created when four Hawaiian land trusts merged together. The organization prides itself on taking “a uniquely Hawaiian and holistic approach to land conservation,” with a special focus on protecting three important types of areas: coastlines, food-producing regions, and wahi kupuna, or Hawaiian cultural landscapes.

Today, HILT has successfully established seven community preserves that encompass over 21,903 acres of protected land. Over 26,000 thousand visitors come to the preserves each year, and contribute nearly 7,000 hours of volunteer time.

Stable Road Foundation’s generous contribution of $5,000 to the Trust will go toward revitalizing the interpretive signage at a preserve called Waihee Refuge. Weathered by the elements since being erected 12 years ago, these signs are an invaluable educational resource for all who visit the refuge.

By updating these signs with new information and more durable materials, Stable Road Foundation will enable visitors of all ages who visit the Waihee Refuge to understand its significance and take action to keep it in pristine condition for years to come.

Stable Road Foundation, founded by Freedman in 2017, focuses on three main causes: children, education, and the environment. Its work with HILT touches on all three, making this a perfect partnership for the Foundation. Freedman is also a vocal supporter of preserving local Hawaiian traditions and ecosystems.
