The Global Network for Zero Launches A Platform Organizations and Businesses can Leverage To Achieve Net Zero Certification

The first sector the platform will address is existing buildings, helping them to decarbonize and become net zero certified

WASHINGTON--()--The Global Network for Zero (GNFZ), has launched a platform that enables individuals and organizations to accelerate their net zero commitments. The platform provides GNFZ network members with end-to-end support in assessing and calculating their emissions, identifying strategies to hit their targets and certifying their net zero achievements. The third-party certifications offered through this revolutionary platform will validate the compliance of net zero efforts and ensure transparency.

"Our platform, built on years of experience and market knowledge and fueled by data-driven decision-making will pave the way for a societal transformation towards a zero emissions world and leave a lasting positive impact on millions, improving their quality of life. Our net zero certification can be applied across numerous sectors, industries and economies, helping businesses realize their climate goals,” says GNFZ Co-Founders Mahesh Ramanujam and Sarah Merricks.

GNFZ’s first area of focus is existing buildings as they have traditionally faced roadblocks in decarbonizing. The building sector accounts for nearly 40% of global emissions and represents one of our largest decarbonization opportunities. GNFZ’s net zero certification for existing buildings is designed to scale progress and address market barriers. With the promise of leaving no building behind, the certification’s inclusive approach guarantees all existing buildings can establish an incremental roadmap to get to net zero. Subsequent platform releases from GNFZ will offer net zero certifications for organizational operations, supply chain, fleet, products, processes, assets and more.

The platform provides network members with end-to-end implementation support from partners who guide them through the process of calculating their buildings’ Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, setting targets, developing plans, implementing net zero strategies and receiving independently verified third-party certification with multiple opportunities for recognition. Network members also have the flexibility to choose the standard, method or framework that works best for them, and can expect a cost-effective and simplified certification process with reduced documentation and support at every step.

GNFZ is already working with many projects across key markets, including founding GNFZ member Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK Exports), one of the world’s largest diamond crafting companies, valued at over 1.8 billion USD.

“At SRK, the crown jewel of our efforts is decarbonization – and our landmark partnership with GNFZ has empowered us to accelerate our net zero targets,” said Govind Dholakia, Founder and Chairman at SRK. “By teaming up with GNFZ, we have already successfully calculated our emissions and are on track to net zero certify our two flagship facilities, SRK House and SRK Empire, in 2024! This is an unprecedented achievement for us — a full six years earlier than our initial commitment — and I’m confident it will trigger unprecedented engagement in decarbonization efforts.”

Pearl Homes, the pioneering trailblazer in the realm of eco-friendly and energy-saving construction for both single-family and multifamily residences, is now a proud member of GNFZ’s community.

“Collaborating with Mahesh and Sarah, Pearl Homes made history by creating the world’s first LEED Zero home in the world in 2018,” shared Marshall Gobuty, Founder and President of Pearl Homes. “We are now fully committed to working with GNFZ to achieve net zero certification and go beyond our entire portfolio, starting with Hunters Point in Florida. Our goal is to show how every existing and new home, as well as residential unit, can create a practical plan and fulfill the promise of being net zero and net positive – all while being cost-effective.”

GNFZ continues to serve its commitment to breaking down barriers and roadblocks by adding the brightest industry minds as network members, advisors, partners and reviewers. This rapidly growing community will help the network implement best-in-class sustainability strategies so that the platform becomes a game changing solution for decarbonizing existing buildings.
