University of Phoenix Bachelor of Science in Business program offers SHRM-aligned Human Resources Certificate

Degree and certificate programs part of offering for students seeking to enter the field

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--University of Phoenix is pleased to announce their Bachelor of Science in Business program (BSB) with a Human Resource Management Certificate is academically aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). In addition to the aligned certificate, the University holds Recertification Provider status with SHRM, the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. SHRM offers programs that qualify for recertification credits for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP®) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP®) credentials.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to offer our students a SHRM-aligned certificate in human resources alongside our BSB degree,” shares Natalie Pratt, associate dean, College of Business and Information Technology at University of Phoenix. “The certificate option is a natural extension of our commitment to programs aligned with skills employers want, and we’re excited to have the support of our Student SHRM Chapter as we offer these learning opportunities to our students.”

According to SHRM, SHRM Academic Alignment Program participants are recognized as SHRM academic partners and as such, are seen as a pathway for students seeking a career in Human Resources. Students enrolled in a SHRM-aligned program are provided with the opportunity to earn their SHRM-CP credential prior to graduating, providing them with an additional credential.

President for the University of Phoenix SHRM Student Chapter, Tiesha Glover, says the program’s academic alignment with SHRM is one of many ways SHRM supports student learning. “Students seeking to enter the human resource field can really benefit from networking opportunities and resources offered by this community,” shares Glover, who was a member of the SHRM Student Chapter of University of Phoenix while she was attending school. “The resources available in our student chapter are as relevant today as they were when I was a student. Opportunities to earn certifications through SHRM can add to a student’s marketable skills, and we encourage our students to take advantage of all our resources and certification options.”

The BSB program at University of Phoenix has been reaffirmed for accreditation until 2027 by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The certificate programs are not accredited by ACBSP. ACBSP-accredited business programs are committed to quality standards. The quality of the program is regularly benchmarked against specific criteria that prepare students for the business industry. Accreditation occurs on a 10-year cycle with regular quality reviews.
