TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Canadian Prepaid Providers Organization (CPPO), the collective voice of the nearly $9 billion open-loop prepaid payments industry in Canada, is proud to announce Visa and EQ Bank have joined its board of directors. Both companies will support the CPPO and board’s mission to drive a positive environment in which prepaid payments can responsibly grow and flourish in Canada.
While EQ Bank has been a longstanding member of the CPPO and previously sat on the board, Visa is a new addition to the non-profit organization in 2023. Also new to the CPPO this year is REV Prepaid, a full-service provider of financial solutions and capital management tools.
“Prepaid is the innovation platform of choice to quickly launch new and innovative digital payments and banking solutions into the market, using existing payment rails,” said Jennifer Tramontana, Co-Founder and Executive Director at CPPO. “We are excited to have the support of Visa, EQ Bank and REV Prepaid as we advocate on behalf of the ever-expanding Canadian prepaid market that continues to support the needs of more consumers and businesses.”
Visa’s representative on the board is Brian Weiner, Vice President, Head of Product and Digital for Visa Canada. EQ Bank will be represented by Kartik Kamat, Vice President, Payments and Digital Banking Analytics for EQ Bank.
Prepaid continues to see rapid growth in Canada and is being used as a foundation for innovative digital financial services, providing the gateway for new ways to bank, transact, get paid and grow inclusive access to financial services.
Visa’s Global Head of Prepaid Kimathi Marangu is the featured keynote at the 2023 CPPO Prepaid Symposium, the organization's annual meeting-of-the-minds to discuss critical issues for the industry and for new entrants to learn about market opportunities, taking place on June 1, 2023, in Toronto. Marangu will share Visa’s research into prepaid’s future around the globe and insights into the attitudes of digitally savvy consumers in select markets across every region.
