LA JOLLA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On March 2nd, Belmont Village Senior Living’s Founder and CEO, Patricia Will, moderated a webinar like her book titled “An Emotional Survival Guide for Caregivers.” presented by author Connie Baher. Her book explores the challenges faced by caregivers, including guilt, sibling strife, and old wounds, and provides guidance on how to navigate these emotional complexities.
Drawing on her personal experience as a caregiver to her mother for 13 years, Baher shared a unique perspective on the challenges that caregivers face. Her work as a writer, lecturer, and coach on caregiving and life transitions offers a unique perspective on caring for an aging loved one, and offered valuable insights into the emotional toll of caregiving and how to manage it effectively.
“Caregiving can be an emotionally complex role, and caregivers may experience conflicting feelings, particularly when making difficult decisions about the care of their loved one,” said Baher. “By acknowledging these challenges and seeking support from others, caregivers can navigate these difficulties and provide the best possible care for their loved ones.”
During the webinar, Baher suggested that caregivers focus on the parts of caregiving that only they can provide such as love, shared experiences, and enlisting the help of experts in caring for aging seniors. She emphasized the importance of caregivers leveraging their strengths and abilities rather than feeling pressured to handle every aspect of caregiving on their own. In doing so, a caregiver can help to prevent burnout and promote overall well-being for both themselves and their loved ones.
“Connie’s new book is a must-read essential for anyone caring for a parent, spouse, or friend over the long haul. Caregiving can be an emotionally taxing experience, and having access to resources and support can be incredibly valuable,” said Will. “At Belmont Village Senior Living, we’re committed to supporting our members and their loved ones, and this latest webinar is just one small part of our ongoing initiative to offer continued support to our community.”
In addition to the inherent educational value of the speakers’ expertise and subject matter itself, this webinar highlights Belmont Village Senior Living’s award-winning, proprietary programming known for addressing the needs and challenges of aging seniors and their caregivers.
