SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hipcamp, the world’s largest provider of unique outdoor stays, today announced the launch of free data coverage maps, giving outdoor enthusiasts an easy way to discover the types of cellular service they can expect at more than 399,000 available campsites, glampsites, and RV stays across the United States.
The new coverage maps showcase areas of coverage provided by: AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile, Verizon, UScellular, and Elon Musk’s Starlink.
“We’re proud to be the first outdoor stays company to offer free in-platform access to this data,” said Hipcamp CEO Alyssa Ravasio. “During the past several years, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in the number of digital nomads using Hipcamp to find incredible places to work from nature. Placing public mobile coverage data behind paid membership walls or costly subscriptions greatly limits who can be confident about planning their outdoor stay, and we’re pleased to offer all campers richer information about what they can expect when they get outside with Hipcamp.”
Other free map layers available at Hipcamp.com include International Dark Skies Maps, Indigenous territories across the United States, and detailed public land boundaries ranging from National Parks to Wildlife Refuges, National Scenic Rivers, Bureau of Land Management acreage, and more.
The rise in #WorkFromAnywhere - and its health benefits
The number of digital nomads has grown exponentially since the start of COVID-19. According to a study by MBO Partners, the number of workers in this category has risen by 131% since 2019.
Mounting evidence shows that working remotely carries multiple physical and psychological benefits, from longer sleep to increased productivity and more physical movement.
Health benefits are even more pronounced when people spend time outside, according to the American Psychological Association. The benefits of time outside include improved cognitive function, better mood, and decreases in mental stress.
How Hipcamp is supporting remote work and human thriving
“One of our core beliefs at Hipcamp is that getting outside is essential to a happy and healthy human life,” said Ravasio. “For that reason, we’re thrilled that since 2019 we’ve supported 460% more people in getting outside to grow their connection with nature and experience all the benefits that time outside provides. Whether you choose to work outdoors or simply relax there, Hipcamp’s new data coverage maps deliver on our brand promise of making it simple to get outside.”
More than 120 Hipcamp employees have also field-tested the benefits of #WorkFromAnywhere since the company transitioned to a fully-remote model in 2019.
“Many of our employees work from Hipcamp locations on a regular basis,” said Ravasio. “We’re proud to lead the way in supporting both employees and campers to work and play in the healthiest place imaginable - the great outdoors.”
