Metronet on Record Pace to Provide Access to Multi-Gigabit Internet Speeds

Newest Service Areas Add 380K Residents and Businesses

EVANSVILLE, Ind.--()--Metronet, the nation’s largest independently owned, 100 percent fiber optic provider, has continued to scale its fully funded multi-gigabit fiber optic networks, investing more than $350 million to launch service within a dozen new communities in six states.

Throughout a four-month period ending this March, Metronet will begin serving residents and businesses in Beavercreek, Oh., St. Joseph, Mo., Norfolk, Va., the Iowa cities of Waterloo, Sioux City, Iowa Falls and Des Moines, the North Carolina cities of Hope Mills, Jacksonville and Hickory, and the Florida cities of Palm Coast and Altamonte Springs.

Together, this new set of service launches will ultimately provide access to service to 380,000 additional residents and businesses. Once construction of each city’s fiber-optic network is complete, 12 new Gigabit Cities will be added to the more than 250 communities that Metronet currently serves.

“Metronet has scaled up its construction pace, so at any given moment, we have more than two dozen cities under construction, and our goal is to continue accelerating,” said John Cinelli, Metronet CEO. “There has been a shift where gigabit speeds have become the standard for communities that want to compete in the twenty-first century economy and provide their citizens with a high quality of life. We have ongoing conversations with numerous other communities and are gearing up to begin construction in several more.”

In each community Metronet serves, homes and businesses have access to symmetrical, multi-gigabit internet speeds at competitive prices. Beyond world-class internet speeds, Metronet prides itself on providing high-touch customer service, a business priority rarely seen in an internet-services industry that has historically been dominated by monopolies or duopolies.
