BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a premier private equity firm investing in middle-market growth companies, today announced the appointment of former Willis Towers Watson CEO John Haley as an Executive Partner in the firm’s Financial Technology and Services investment group. Haley has also been appointed to the board of THL portfolio company AmeriLife Group, LLC (“AmeriLife”), a national leader in marketing and distributing life, health, annuities and retirement planning solutions.
Prior to joining THL, Haley served as CEO and member of the board of directors of Willis Towers Watson, where he led the company through its IPO in 2000 and three mergers that helped triple its size. Haley will support THL’s efforts in identifying, sourcing, and growing investment opportunities in the financial technology and services sector. He will also support portfolio company management teams in creating sustainable, long-term value.
“With over 40 years of industry experience, John is very well-positioned to advise our portfolio companies that offer insurance and adjacent technology and services,” said Ganesh Rao, Managing Director at THL and head of Financial Technology and Services. “He joins at just the right moment, as our partner companies work to transform and modernize the insurance industry.”
“I was immediately drawn to the collegial nature of the Financial Technology and Services team at THL, which shows in the way they work with not only each other, but also their portfolio companies,” Haley said. “It’s easy to see how this impressive team has established such meaningful relationships with insurance technology, services, and distribution firms, as well as fintech companies more broadly. I especially look forward to partnering with AmeriLife and THL’s other portfolio companies.”
In joining AmeriLife’s board, Haley will advise the company on its continued growth and operations.
“THL’s financial and operational support has played a key role in furthering our mission to provide insurance and retirement planning solutions to help Americans live longer, healthier lives,” AmeriLife Chairman and CEO Scott Perry added. “I’m thrilled that John will be joining the board and believe his experience will greatly benefit AmeriLife, its growing distribution network and our affiliated agents and advisors.”
Haley serves as a director of the public company board of MAXIMUS, Inc. and on the boards of New World Symphony and the Miami Cancer Institute. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
To date, THL’s Financial Technology and Services team has deployed $10.3 billion of fund and co-investment capital and partnered with 32 companies. Information about these companies can be viewed here.
