Cloud-Based ATM Service Announced at ATMIA Annual U.S. Conference

NEW ORLEANS--()--E-Squared Systems, Inc. (E2), a fintech company founded by former PAI and Mastercard executives Donna Embry and Leland Englebardt, today announced the development of a new remote hosting service for financial self-service terminals utilizing ATMIA’s Next Gen ATM architecture. The company is developing the service in collaboration with Genmega, a leading global terminal manufacturer, and with Digital Cash Processing (DCP), an established North American payments gateway. The service aims to reduce the cost and complexity of operating ATMs and kiosks, while expediting the process of adding and upgrading terminal functionality.

“Device operators will have a better way to respond to changing consumer needs and to manage their terminals in a much simpler, more secure and more profitable manner,” said E2 Chief Executive Officer Embry.

The E2 approach is based on a remote hosted terminal manager that reduces the need to support payment applications at the terminal level, while providing terminal operators with nearly instantaneous operating and terminal management information. The service is based on connecting financial self-service terminals to a hosted virtual terminal manager that centralizes application processes and integration at scale on behalf of client terminals and value-added services providers. Terminal decision-making is relocated to the cloud, reducing storage and information processing requirements for individual terminals, minimizing work to add and update terminal functionality, and increasing the security of internal terminal operations.

E2 President Englebardt stated, “The net result for terminal operators is fewer technician visits to terminals, reduced need for hardware and software upgrades to terminals, greater resistance to logical attacks on terminals, and greater opportunities for terminal operators to add revenue-producing functionality quickly and with less downtime. All these advantages mean lower costs, higher revenue and more satisfied customers for every terminal using the E2 service.”

Englebardt continued, “ATMs are one of history’s greatest consumer innovations and will continue to be the preferred financial services touchpoint for a long time to come. So-called cash alternatives are plagued with fraud. Meanwhile, financial self-service terminals must adapt rapidly to expanding consumer desires for new services, from the advent of non-physical forms of value like cryptocurrency and central bank digital currency, to growing fraud threats and ever-evolving regulations. A different and more efficient infrastructure is needed to enable these changes and E2 provides this infrastructure.”

Embry and Englebardt will present, “How to Improve Security, Expand Functionality and Lower ATM Costs,” at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday during a breakout session at this week’s ATMIA 2023 U.S. Conference. They will also be available during the conference to discuss their company’s remote hosting service for financial self-service terminals.
