Kain Capital Hires Bret Cummings as Chief Financial Officer

Adds Three Healthcare Veterans as Advisors

NEW YORK--()--Kain Capital LLC, a leading private equity firm focused on the technology enablement of healthcare services companies, today announced that Bret Cummings has joined the firm as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. Healthcare veterans Anne Barr, Dennis Nesta and Long Thai have joined Kain as advisors.

Mr. Cummings brings over 30 years of experience in the investment management industry. Previously, he was Chief Financial and Compliance Officer at Macellum Capital Management, Chief Financial and Operating Officer at both Healy Circle Capital Management, LLC and Irvine Capital Management Inc., and Chief Financial, Operating and Compliance Officer at Sage Asset Management, LP. At Kain, Mr. Cummings will be responsible for all finance-related activities and will manage Kain’s compliance program to ensure the firm and its offerings adhere to industry laws and regulations.

Ms. Barr brings over 20 years of experience in technology-enabled healthcare companies. She will assist Kain’s portfolio companies in leveraging new technologies to increase the efficiency of healthcare delivery and improve outcomes for patients. Previously, Ms. Barr served as Chief Information Officer at Brown & Toland Physicians and held executive roles at some of the nation’s largest integrated health systems including Sutter Health, Washington Hospital Health System and Kaiser Permanente.

Mr. Nesta will support Kain’s investments in risk-based healthcare services companies. He is currently Chief Growth Officer of Rendr, the largest primary care-focused, multi-specialty medical group dedicated to serving the Asian community. Prior to Rendr, Mr. Nesta held several financial leadership roles at Aetna and served as ChenMed’s regional CFO, where he was responsible for financial operations and payer contracts.

Mr. Thai will assist Kain’s portfolio companies with data analytics. He is currently Senior Vice President of Value-Based Care at Rendr, where he directs the transition to value-based care through financial and operational analytics to create effective risk coding and utilization management. He has over 20 years of experience working with various integrated multi-specialty medical groups, including ChenMed and Kaiser Permanente.
