Doug Bibby, Outgoing President of National Multifamily Housing Council, Joins Shelters to Shutters National Board of Directors

VIENNA, Va.--()--Shelters to Shutters (“S2S”) announced today that Doug Bibby, outgoing President of the National Multifamily Housing Council (“NMHC”), has joined its National Board of Directors to serve a three-year term. S2S plans to leverage Bibby’s deep expertise of the multifamily industry and the relationships he has cultivated over the course of his more than two-decade career to assist the organization in further scaling its training and placement operations to further its growth and help reach more people.

For the past 21 years, Bibby has served as President of NMHC, a national organization of more than 2,000-member firms involved in the $3 trillion multifamily housing industry. In recognition of his service to the multifamily industry, Bibby was elected to the Multifamily Executive’s Hall of Fame in 2019 and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Multi-Housing News.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Doug’s caliber and character join the Board of Shelters to Shutters,” said Chris Finlay, Shelters to Shutters Founder and Chairman of the Board. “I am moved by the number of people our organization has helped achieve economic self-sufficiency since our inception, but there is so much more to do. With Doug on board, we plan to leverage his expertise and the respect and credibility he holds within the industry to deepen our network of partners and enter new markets across the country.”

S2S sources, screens, trains, and places highly motivated and capable individuals in high demand on-site jobs in partnership with over 40 leading apartment owners and operators. The organization works with multiple referring partners in each of its local markets as well as nationally to identify suitable job applicants who are struggling with or at risk of homelessness. S2S conducts skills assessments of applicants before providing them with a customized training plan utilizing a multifamily housing industry focused curriculum, along with training in technical skills, soft skills, and financial literacy. The program changes the lives of individuals and families while providing quality, motivated employees for a rapidly growing industry in need of talent.

Bibby stated, “Shelters to Shutters and its unique approach to address housing insecurity and homelessness is a cause very important to me and one that I am proud to support. It’s an honor to be joining this incredible organization as a Board member and partake in all it is doing to help individuals achieve economic prosperity, financial independence and a safe place to call home. I look forward to continue advancing the foundation upon which Chris and the rest of the Board has laid by tapping into my network to broaden our industry partnerships in order to allow for more people to benefit from our mission.”

S2S currently operates in nine markets across the country: Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Houston, Nashville, National Capital Region, North Texas, Orlando and Greater Phoenix.
