MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nystrom & Associates (“Nystrom”) today announced Mark Peterson, RPh, as its new CEO. Peterson succeeds Mark Arnold who has held the role since May of 2020.
During Arnold’s tenure, the organization significantly expanded and now provides clinical services in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, and will soon add North Dakota. The company also employs over 1,000 behavioral health providers with broad clinical expertise across its 50 outpatient clinics.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to sincerely thank Mark Arnold for his leadership and commitment to Nystrom’s mission over the past three years,” said Keith Farrow, Managing Director, Nautic Partners LLC. “The organization now operates in three states, providing exceptional care to meaningfully more consumers than it did when Mark joined.”
Peterson brings a wealth of experience to the CEO role. He has a long-standing relationship with Nystrom, most recently serving as chairman of its Board of Directors. Prior to that, he was CEO of Genoa Healthcare, an organization that has partnered with Nystrom for over 13 years to provide behavioral health pharmacy services in several of its clinics.
“With more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health and an ongoing dedication to the Nystrom organization, we are excited that Mark will lead the company in its next chapter of growth and expansion,” said Brian Nystrom, M.S.W., founder and current board member of Nystrom.
“As a founder of Genoa, Mark built a mission-driven organization serving those living with behavioral health issues,” Nystrom said. “He understands and appreciates the mission, and we are pleased to have him lead Nystrom as it continues to develop.”
While at Genoa, Peterson grew the business from a startup to an industry leader generating over $3 billion in revenue. Throughout that period, the company delivered high quality clinical services and improved the lives of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. During his tenure, the organization also achieved a medication adherence rate of over 90%, demonstrating a commitment to quality of care, and achieved industry-leading consumer satisfaction. Peterson also broadened Genoa’s service offering, adding telepsychiatry in 2015. Prior to the pandemic, Genoa operated the largest outpatient telepsychiatry business in the country.
“Mark’s commitment to investing in the people of the organization and making Nystrom the employer of choice has been evident since he joined the board. He is a compassionate leader with experience running a high touch and impactful healthcare organization,” said John Figueroa, current Nystrom board member.
