Semperis Accelerates Adoption of Identity Threat Detection and Response in the Public Sector with Key Appointment

Twenty-Year Public Sector Veteran with Deep Cybersecurity Experience, Jared Vichengrad, Joins Semperis to Drive Growth and Expansion of Identity-First Security in Public Sector

HOBOKEN, N.J.--()--Semperis, a pioneer in identity-driven cyber resilience, today announced the appointment of Jared Vichengrad as Vice President of Public Sector as part of the company’s strategic initiative to drive adoption of identity-first security in local, state, and federal government agencies throughout North America. In tandem with Vichengrad’s appointment, Semperis announced plans to expand its public sector program as part of its mission to provide advanced cybersecurity solutions and services to help protect public sector customers’ hybrid Active Directory (AD) systems from attacks.

The expansion of Semperis’ public sector program addresses the heightened need for identity-first security among state, local, and federal government organizations. Ransomware attacks in the public sector can cause massive disruption, creating a sense of urgency. In addition, public sector organizations are prime targets for cyberattacks because of common vulnerabilities, including legacy infrastructure, lack of identity security expertise, and limited resources. Ransomware campaigns targeting public sector organizations have proliferated in recent years, spanning attacks on 911 call centers, public school systems, and utilities.

General David Petraeus (U.S. Army, Ret.), a Partner at KKR, Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, and former Director of the CIA, also serves as a Strategic Advisor for Semperis to help the company as it advances identity threat detection and response (ITDR) in the public and private sectors. Gen. Petraeus’ appointment follows Semperis’ recent Series C funding round led by KKR.

Vichengrad brings over 20 years of cybersecurity and sales experience in the public sector to his new role. Prior to joining Semperis, Vichengrad served as Head of SLED Sales at Rubrik, where he built the company's Public Sector go-to-market program from the ground up.

“Ransomware and other directory-related attacks pose a massive problem to the public sector,” said Vichengrad. “As local, state, and federal governments continue to prioritize digital transformation to keep up with the pace of business, security teams in the public sector are racing to find a solution to help protect their Active Directory systems, the primary source of trust for identity and access. Semperis is committed to doubling down on our platform innovation and broadening our offerings, including incident response services, to meet this need in the public sector.”

Identity systems such as AD and Azure AD, used in over 90% of enterprises, are under sustained attack in the public sector. With a multi-layered defense approach that spans the attack lifecycle, Semperis offers the industry’s most comprehensive security technology for hybrid AD and other identity systems, combined with deep incident response expertise.
