AM Best Assigns Indicative Issue Credit Ratings to MetLife, Inc.’s New Shelf Registration

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best has assigned indicative Long-Term Issue Credit Ratings of “bbb+” (Good) to subordinated issues, “bbb” (Good) to preferred stock issues and “a-” (Excellent) to senior unsecured issues on the recently filed shelf registrations of MetLife, Inc. (MetLife) (headquartered in New York, NY) [NYSE: MET]. The outlook assigned to these Credit Ratings (ratings) is stable. AM Best has withdrawn the ratings of the previous shelf registrations, which expired. The existing ratings of MetLife and its insurance subsidiaries are unchanged.

MetLife’s financial leverage and the historical interest coverage are supportive of this rating.
