HENDERSON, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the demand for pilots continues to climb alongside people’s penchant for travel, a new and exciting era for qualified cockpit crew is on the horizon. The latest aviation data shows pilot hiring numbers are soaring to never-before-seen levels in the industry, with 2022 surpassing the record for pilot hiring, previously achieved in 2000. According to FAPA, the major U.S. airlines hired 11,372 pilots this year.
Tapping into the upward hiring trend for seasoned aviators, pilot career consulting company Future & Active Pilot Advisors (FAPA) and JetBlue will host the exclusive FAPA Job Fair featuring more than 20 pilot employers on Sat., Nov. 19, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Le Méridien Dania Beach (1825 Griffin Road Dania Beach, FL, 33004) near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Interested pilots must register for the event by visiting https://fapa.aero/PilotJobFairs/JetBlueRegistration.
“Talent acquisition professionals in our industry understand the value and effectiveness of recruiting events based on merits and accomplishments. With our last two pilot events drawing more than 300 job-hunting pilots, FAPA and its partners continue to catch the attention of airlines, charter, and business aviation carriers and those seeking direction for a professional career in the flight deck. Looking ahead, although the anticipated recession may impact pilot demand in 2023 and beyond, there are other factors, such as the departure of senior pilots due to age restrictions, which will mitigate the impact,” says Louis Smith, president and CEO of FAPA.
The FAPA Job Fair is exclusively for pilots with a minimum of 250 hours or a commercial certificate or within three months of earning their commercial certificate. Free to attend, the monthly event brings recruiters from top pilot employers together in one place to meet qualified pilots seeking new professional opportunities.
From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., JetBlue’s recruiting team will also review pilot resumes and share best practices to assist pilots in preparing the best possible document for their job-hunting endeavors. Space is limited and qualified candidates with their ATP and unrestricted authorization to work in the United States will need to register separately to speak with JetBlue. For those who require additional help, FAPA Pro Members receive a resume review and critique included with their membership.
“JetBlue is proud and excited to continue our partnership with FAPA as we seek dedicated and professional pilots to join our growing airline. It’s a great time to join JetBlue – we’re not only hiring new pilots, but we’re also adding new routes, aircraft and opportunities. We look forward to meeting candidates in Dania Beach this weekend as FAPA’s featured sponsor,” said Chris Lum, system chief pilot, JetBlue.
Attendees must register for the FAPA Job Fair and should bring plenty of resumes, along with one for FAPA, upon admission. Visit FAPA.aero/Jobs for more details, the current list of recruiting companies, and their respective hiring minimums, or to learn more about future monthly events in 2023. Attending pilots should print their ticket or have their QR code ready to scan on their mobile device upon check-in.
Interested parties who have less than 250 hours and do not have a commercial certificate should register for the FAPA Future Pilot Forum at 2 p.m. in the same location to learn about the pathways to a professional pilot career.
