PeopleKeep HRA Program Supports Family Promise Nationwide Growth with Excellent Health Benefits that Support its Mission

Competitive healthcare benefits through HRAs support employee retention and recruitment for non-profit affiliates nationwide

SALT LAKE CITY--()--In recognition of November as National Homeless Awareness month, PeopleKeep, the leader in personalized benefits for small to midsize organizations, highlights its work with Family Promise, an organization working to prevent and end family homelessness. PeopleKeep assists Family Promise affiliates with excellent employee benefits through a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA). These benefits help Family Promise affiliates stay competitive when hiring and retaining employees at affiliates nationwide.

Jessica Corpening, Executive Director of Family Promise of Flint Hills, said HRAs provide flexibility so employees can purchase the healthcare benefits right for them rather than chosen for them.

A PeopleKeep HRA provides employees with much more flexibility by offering personalized benefits while being a cost-effective solution for the organization. The program allows new affiliate locations to recruit qualified employees with a competitive benefits package. Newer locations in San Gabriel Valley, California, and Flint Hills, Kansas, chose a QSEHRA because it provides their diverse workforces tax-free reimbursements for not only their health insurance premiums but also for many other out-of-pocket medical costs.

“Fewer than half of small employers offer a health benefit, and of those that do, it’s not always one that can attract and retain talent because it doesn’t offer choices,” explains Victoria Glickman Hodgkins, CEO of PeopleKeep. “HRAs provide more customized benefits that can match what larger organizations can provide.”

A Qualified Small Employer HRA (QSEHRA) is an IRS-approved, employer-funded health benefit used to reimburse employees, tax-free, for their healthcare expenses.

According to PeopleKeep’s 2022 report on HRAs, the average monthly allowance employers offered their employees in the past year was $981, an amount that’s more than double the cost of the average lowest-cost self-only gold plan premium of $462 for a 40-year-old, as reported by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

For Family Promise of Flint Hills, setting up and launching their HRA benefit through PeopleKeep took 30 minutes, and ongoing administration is less than 30 minutes per month.

Family Promise began as a local response to a problem in Union County, New Jersey. Thirty years later, it is a national movement involving more than 200,000 volunteers, which served more than 187,000 people in 2021. Over the past three decades, Family Promise has continued to expand its scope and reach. Today, Family Promise has more than 200 affiliates across 43 states and is the leading national non-profit addressing the issue of family homelessness.
