CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Avail, a car sharing platform protected by Allstate, and LAZ Parking, the fastest growing and second largest parking company in the country, are teaming up to change the way people use parking garages while making the car sharing journey even easier. The collaboration is the first time a car sharing company has directly integrated with a parking management company, enabling monthly parking subscribers to earn supplemental income by sharing their vehicle from the convenience of a commercial garage.
Avail will initially bring its car sharing marketplace and complementary customer service technologies to designated parking areas in 20 LAZ locations across Chicago and Denver, with over 100 integrated locations planned in the next year.
“We began asking what is the next step for car sharing and what more can a parking garage be,” said Jason Mathias, president of Avail. “Our work with LAZ aims to answer these questions, making car sharing simpler and more accessible and allowing monthly LAZ subscribers to share their vehicles in a fresh, dynamic space. We are thrilled to offer this service with LAZ and lead the reinvention of parking garages.”
The partnership will debut November 3, 2022 in Chicago at LAZ Parking Grand Plaza, 540 N. State. The location will feature technologies including a digital agent to guide customers through the newly launched experience, a designated service station to care for vehicles, and an artificially intelligent camera system to help keep the platform safe and well-managed.
“The parking industry changed dramatically during the pandemic, forcing us to innovate,” said Alan Lazowski, chairman and founder of LAZ Parking. “We rose to the challenge, and through our work with Avail, we are providing a new type of service that helps vehicle owners offset the cost of their parking. It’s optimizing traditional parking garages into mobility hubs.”
Shared cars will be inspected, washed by Avail’s staff, and made available to borrow by vetted owners. As always with Avail, a best-in-class auto insurance from Allstate will offer peace of mind to Avail customers and partners. Avail plans to offer additional features, such as EV charging stations, to its LAZ locations in the future.
