NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in delivering health care solutions for those most in need, announced that it is expanding its presence in the Health Insurance Marketplace® this fall. AmeriHealth Caritas Next is based on the same principles of compassion and health equity that have been the company’s cornerstone for nearly four decades, and will help people, including those who are transitioning from Medicaid to Marketplace plans, access the clinical care and other resources that are essential for ongoing health and well-being.
Marketplace expansion for the 2023 plan year includes Delaware, Florida, and South Carolina, and also adding counties in North Carolina. The expansion builds on the existing work the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies already delivers in these states serving Medicaid enrollees and leverages the deep relationships it has built with providers and local communities.
“Our mission to help people get care, stay well, and build healthy communities begins with helping them access affordable health care, and the expansion of AmeriHealth Caritas Next is an important step to achieving this goal,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Chairman and CEO Paul A. Tufano. “We will have an opportunity to provide quality health care options to an even larger population and to carry out our commitment to support our members on their full life journey, from wellness to resilience, so they can reach their American Dream.”
Marketplace customers in the following additional counties will have the option to choose AmeriHealth Caritas Next when 2023 open enrollment begins on Nov. 1, with coverage to take effect on Jan. 1:
- Delaware — Kent, New Castle, and Sussex (Statewide)
- Florida — Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach
- North Carolina — AmeriHealth Caritas Next currently serves 25 counties in central and western North Carolina. The following additional counties will expand AmeriHealth Caritas Next’s footprint to 35 counties across the state: Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Graham, Henderson, Polk, Rockingham, and Watauga
- South Carolina (under the name First Choice Next) — Anderson, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Chester, Dillon, Dorchester, Fairfield, Georgetown, Greenville, Horry, Kershaw, Lancaster, Laurens, Marion, Pickens, and Richland
AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies offers Medicaid managed care health plans in the states where it will expand AmeriHealth Caritas Next. In addition, it serves Medicare-Medicaid dual eligibles in South Carolina through its First Choice VIP Care Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) and First Choice VIP Care Plus Medicare-Medicaid Plan.
“The growth of AmeriHealth Caritas Next increases the impact our family of companies can have to ensure health care is in reach for all,” said Loreta Lenko, President of AmeriHealth Caritas Next. “We are pleased to offer Marketplace enrollees in these counties a new coverage option that builds on our existing work serving their state’s Medicaid enrollees.”
