Eleanor Health Expands into Texas, Opens Outpatient Addiction and Mental Health Clinic in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO--()--Eleanor Health, the first outpatient addiction and mental health treatment provider built on value- and population-based payment models, today announced it opened its first Texas clinic in San Antonio. Eleanor provides whole-person, evidence-based care to adults seeking help for alcohol, opioid and other substance use disorders and mental health conditions. With the addition of this location, Eleanor now offers care at 31 clinics across seven states: Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Washington.

Eleanor offers virtual care across the entire state of Texas, and in-person care at its San Antonio location – which is located at 8500 Village Drive (Suite 101). The clinic offers care that addresses the physical, mental and emotional aspects of recovery, including medications for addiction treatment (MAT), psychiatry, individual and group therapy, peer recovery coaching, and nurse care management.

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics recently reported a 15 percent increase in overdose deaths in 2021, which had already skyrocketed the year prior with a 30 percent increase in 2020. This trend is bearing out both nationally and in Texas, underscoring the immediate need for substance use disorder treatment rooted in harm reduction,” said Annette Betancur, Texas director of operations at Eleanor Health. “I look forward to spearheading operations for Eleanor’s clinical model in San Antonio and across Texas.”

Eleanor’s pioneering model is built around value- and population-based payment structures that are designed to identify, engage and support the highest-cost, highest-risk individuals – aligning incentives around reductions in total cost of care and improvements in key quality metrics.

Since launching in 2019, Eleanor’s whole-person approach has delivered superior clinical outcomes:

  • 84 percent of members report improvement in substance use
  • 70 percent of members report an improvement in depression and anxiety
  • Members experienced an 84 percent reduction in emergency department and inpatient utilization, within the first 90 days of program participation

Payers, health systems and other providers interested in partnering with Eleanor may inquire on the website.

“Nationally, addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions are at an all-time high, and there is an urgency to implement new solutions that deliver evidence-based, high-quality care to those who need it most,” said Corbin Petro, CEO and co-founder of Eleanor Health. “Eleanor’s whole-person approach to substance use disorder treatment has delivered unprecedented outcomes in other states, and we are excited to introduce this care model to Texas and San Antonio.”

In Texas, Eleanor is expanding its insurance coverage and currently accepts Optum/UnitedHealthcare, Aetna and Medicare. Individuals interested in seeking treatment in San Antonio may complete the insurance verification form or call (726) 207-9193 to see how much their plan will cover.
